SATURDAY NEWS WRAP #101

• George Michael's new single 'White Light' was officially serviced to Australian media late yesterday. The track will hit to commemorate George's 30th anniversary in the music industry and 30 years to the day since he and bandmate Andrew Ridgeley released 'Wham Rap'. 'White Light' will be released digitally in Australia on Monday.
• X Factor star Reece Mastin has knocked Flo Rida from the No.1 position on the Australian iTunes store with his latest single 'Shout It Out'. The track follows on from his No.1 smash 'Good Night' and its No.2 follow-up 'Shut Up And Kiss Me' and was co-written by the DNA boys.
• In the countdown to the release of his new solo record 'Broken Brights', Aussie singer Angus Stone has revealed the official video for the latest single 'Wooden Chair'. It provides a glimpse into the singer's world in the "faraway hills of wild and remote" Australia, but comes with fireworks, bonfires and burnouts. Check it out HERE.
• Following on from the revelation of the cover image for their forthcoming album '¡Uno!', the boys from Green Day have revealed the covers for the other albums in the trilogy... '¡Dos!' and '¡Tré!' (pictured left). Their label Warner Music has also given fans a hint of when to expect the other two LPs to drop at Australian retail, confirming via the images that '¡Dos!' will drop on Friday November 09 and '¡Tré!' will arrive early next year - on January 11.
• Grammy winning songstress Emmylou Harris has announced an Australian tour in November. The 'Hard Bargain' tour will touch down at the Perth Concert Hall on November 18 before visiting Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Tickets to the Canberra date are on sale on Monday, with the remaining dates on sale this Friday.
• Aussie songstress Mia Dyson is also headed out on the road. She's performing around the country in support of her first single in four long years entitled 'When The Moment Comes', which is due for a digital release this Friday. Tickets for all dates are on sale on Monday.
• Cheeky British singer Cosmo Jarvis has announced an Australian promotional tour. He arrives in Sydney on July 23 for two full weeks of promotional activities in support of his new album 'Think Bigger', which is released to Australian retail this Friday.
• Legendary rockers Kiss have announced a new single and album. The single is entitled 'Hell Or Hallelujah' and according to their European label at least, it's due to drop this week (though no word from Universal locally). It's the lead track from a new album called 'Monster', which is slated for a release in October.
• Victorian Marty Smiley has earlier today taken out Channel [V]'s Presenter Search for 2012. The fresh-faced, big-haired 21 year old took out the prized position over fellow Victorian Bridget Hustwaite. He'll join Billy Russell, Danny Clayton and Carissa Walford as the faces of the music channel.
• Carly Rae Jepsen has extended her run at No.1 on the US Billboard 100 charts this week with her global smash 'Call Me Maybe'. Maroon 5's 'Payphone' has now finally overtaken Gotye and this week settles in the No.2 position. Ellie Goulding's doing rather well too - her single 'Lights' rushing into the top ten at No.6, while Usher's 'Scream' also settles into the top ten. Aussie songstress/DJ Havana Brown breaks into the US top 40 with her single 'We Run The Night'. It's now at No.38.
• There was really no chance that Justin Bieber's 'Believe' wasn't going to debut atop the Billboard albums chart really... Sources within the chart company were predicting sales of in excess of 410,000 copies in the first week alone, easily accounting for the debuts in positions two, three and four from Kenny Chesney, Fiona Apple and The Smashing Pumpkins respectively. Usher's 'Looking 4 Myself', which was at No.1 last week, slides to No.6.
• If you really love your charts, then you'll more than likely love our Chart Watch. Find out what's debuted where on the ARIA top 100s hours before they're officially revealed on the ARIA site. It's live Sundays from 9am.

JUSTICE CREW : Boom Boom

The boys from Aussie dance/urban outfit Justice Crew certainly know how to have their fans smiling on a Friday. Not only did they release their brand new single 'Boom Boom' yesterday, but they also dropped the official video to it to boot.
Right from the opening scenes, where the boys are dancing along to a video game, 'Boom Boom' is certainly crafted to get their peeps up on the dancefloor shaking their booties.
Most of the clip centres on the boys dancing up a storm in a warehouse in front of a bunch of eager onlookers as the tune pumps along. 'Boom Boom' is quite a likeable pop/dance track.

SETTLE DOWN! IT'S NO DOUBT

The wraps have come off the brand new single for US outfit No Doubt, who'll make their return to the charts later this year.
'Settle Down' is the band's first new tune since the smashing 'It's My Life' way back in 2003 and is the lead single from the new No Doubt album 'Push And Shove', their first studio album in eleven years.
According to the band's UK publicists, the single is set to drop digitally on September 17, seven days ahead of the release of the album.
Presumably that means an Australian release for 'Push And Shove' of Friday September 21.

CHERYL WINNERS

Right, you pop lovers! Last week, the gorgeous peeps at Universal Music decided that they would graciously shoot across five copies of the new Cheryl (Cole, that would be) album 'A Million Lights'.
The awesome first single from it 'Call My Name' was produced by Calvin Harris and it's an obvious dance/pop stormer that deserves to be much higher in the charts than where it is so far.
Anyway anyway anyway, you flooded our inbox with entries for this competition and we nearly almost forgot that we had to draw the winners and publish them on the site.
Alas, however, this is not the case and we can now reveal that the lucky winners are;

Jonathan from Woodpark in New South Wales, Ellise from Turrella in New South Wales, Josh from Parramatta in New South Wales, David from Annandale in New South Wales and Alexander from Northfield, no, not in New South Wales, but in South Australia.

Congratulations fine auspOp followers! A copy of the Cheryl album will be heading out to your place shortly.
Our thanks to the team at Universal Music, thanks to all who entered and don't forget... there's another giveaway live in the sidebar as we speak, so go... conquer... enter! Good luck!

EJ/PNAU RELEASE CONFIRMED

We know we've been banging on about the new Elton/Pnau collaborative release for the past few weeks, but it's a fantastic pat on the back for Messrs Littlemore and Mayes that Sir Elton is so impressed by him that he's granted the boys access to his back catalogue for this fab new release.
Each track on the 'Good Morning To The Night' album borrows from elements of Elton's tracks from the 1970s, with each track given a gorgeous lick of paint by the Pnau boys and mixed into an intoxicating blend of edgy synths and old fashioned pop sensibilities. It's then, yes. But it's oh so now.
The title track itself borrows from eight Elton tracks ('Philadelphia Freedom', 'Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters', 'Funeral For A Friend', 'Tonight', 'Gulliver/It's Hay Chewed', 'Sixty Years On (Live in Australia)', 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' and 'Someone Saved My Life Tonight'.
Universal Music Australia has today confirmed that 'Good Morning To The Night' will get a release in Australia on Friday July 27.

"I am very excited and grateful to be working with such a great team of people to produce the best quality of music and performances possible," Rachael said in a statement. "It's all happened so fast but of course, I welcome it all with wide open arms! Looking forward to a very musical future."
Rachael's debut album is entitled 'Shooting Star' - the same title afforded to the original piece she performed while on 'The Voice'. The album is set to contain studio recordings of tracks Rachael performed while on the show, including the aforementioned original 'Shooting Star'.

It's the lead single from Darren's debut album 'Happy Home', which showcases his time on the show. He's incredible thrilled to be showcasing his talents.
"To have wandered patiently over 20 years of performing live, song-writing and recording, to be standing here on the eve of my debut release is incredibly humbling. This is a dream come true," he said in a statement.
As with Sarah's release, Darren's album contains studio recordings of his performances from the show, including the original piece 'Damage Down'. It's set for release physically and digitally on Friday July 13.

PARIE'S EP DEETS

Fans of Aussie songstress Christina Parie loved our stories on the singer's brand new single and her forthcoming '16 & Unstoppable' EP so much this week that we thought we'd go digging on their behalf in order to see what else we could find out about what to expect from it.
As you're no doubt aware by now, the single will be released to digital retail on Friday July 13, but there have been a number of people enquiring whether the digital EP (to be released two weeks later) will be made available in physical format. The answer? Yes.
And what do you know... We've also been able to unearth the official tracklisting for it. It's set to contain five tracks including the Hayley Warner co-penned lead single, as well as a track called 'Back To Life', which was written by The Veronicas.
Look for the '16 & Unstoppable' EP dropping at digital and physical retail on Friday July 27.

OWL AHOY

We recently brought you news about the forthcoming album from US singer/producer Adam Young (aka Owl Eyes), confirming that the star would be back later in the year with a brand new album entitled 'The Midsummer Station'.
Confirmed for local release on August 17, more details have now come to light about the new LP, including the official cover image (pictured) and two very special guests.
He's firstly teaming up with chart darling Carly Rae Jepsen, who Adam collaborates with on the new single 'Good Time'.
"I love Carly’s song 'Call Me Maybe'. I remember hearing it for the first time and immediately became a huge fan of hers – it is absolutely contagious," he said in a statement. "A bit later, I actually found out that she had known of my music for a while and even went to a couple of shows of mine in Vancouver so I definitely knew I wanted to collaborate with her."
Adam also teams up with Mark Hoppus, of Blink 182 fame, on the track 'Dementia' - a more rocky cut on the new LP.
'The Midsummer Station' will appear at retail in Australia on Friday August 17.

MUSING FOR THE GAMES

Very exciting news from the Muse camp yesterday, with the gents announcing that their new single 'Survival' has been chosen as the official anthem for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The track will be used widely throughout the Games ceremonies and will be appearing on telecasts throughout the world, including with the 9 Network here at home in Australia.
Lead vocalist Matt Bellamy explained in a statement how the track came to be.
"I wrote it with the Games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win," he said. "It’s a huge honour to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games."
The track is available digitally now.
In the meantime, Muse also revealed that they've been working on a brand new album. Entitled 'The 2nd Law', the LP is due to drop in September this year.

WHITNEY HOUSTON & JORDIN SPARKS : Celebrate

One of the last projects Whitney Houston completed before her untimely death earlier this year was a motion picture entitled 'Sparkle', about a group of young women who form a female vocal group.
She starred alongside former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and collaborated with the singer on music from the soundtrack - the lead single from which is the summery 'Celebrate'.
It's an out-and-out duet and though Whitney's absence from the official video leaves an obvious, gaping hole, it's obvious that she was at the forefront of the stars' minds as they join together in a burst of colour and song to 'Celebrate' not only the movie and the song, but Whitney herself. Jordin wears a Whitney t-shirt in the closing stages of the clip.

B.O.B. FTG. TAYLOR SWIFT : Both Of Us

Worlds are colliding! Yes indeed, the sweet, innocent country starlet Taylor Swift has teamed up with the gritty, street-wise rapper B.o.B. on his brand new single 'Both Of Us', the official video for which broke earlier today.
The track itself has peaked just inside the top 50 on the ARIA charts thus far, with a single release proper still incoming, as well as a top 20 placing on the Billboard singles chart.
The clip features the country songstress in pensive mode, wishing for greater strength, delivering the words with delicacy and confidence.
B.o.B. explodes onto screens with his grittier rap to give the track a real sense of ying and yang, light and dark.

ROD GOES UNIVERSAL

Crooner Rod Stewart's series of 'Great American Songbook' albums have seen the singer achieve global success under the Sony umbrella for the past decade. He's notched up multi-platinum sales here in Australia across that time with the five volumes released, along with his 2009 album 'Soulbook'.
Overnight comes news, however, that Rod has jumped ship and now calls Universal Music home, signing a global deal with the record giant that will see him release his first ever Christmas album in November.
The new LP will be produced by the highly respected David Foster and is set to feature a "handful of star-studded vocal duets" that are still under wraps.
Released via the Verve imprint, 'Merry Christmas, Baby' will be released in Australia on Friday November 09.

TOURING : Kelly Clarkson

Speculation over a full national tour by US star Kelly Clarkson has been high since she was revealed as the headline guest at the Deni Ute Muster in late September.
This morning comes the news that her local fans have waited so patiently for... That she will indeed play a national tour while she's on local soil, taking in dates in all five major centres.
Kelly's come a long way since sweeping the American Idol competition ten years ago, scoring four successive top five albums in Australia, along with a string of top ten singles including 'Miss Independent', 'Breakaway', 'Since U Been Gone', 'Because Of You', 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and her first ever No.1 single here, 'Mr.Know It All'.
The latter is lifted from Kelly's latest album 'Stronger', which has so far nabbed platinum sales in Australia.
Joining Kelly as the support for all dates is US outfit The Fray, who hit the big time down under with their 2006 single 'How To Save A Life' and their 2008 track 'You Found Me' (which hit No.1 on the ARIA charts).
Recent 'The Voice' contestant Sarah De Bono will also appear at all dates.
Tickets for all dates are on sale on Wednesday July 11.

FREE CYNDI

Pop icon Cyndi Lauper has contributed her considerable songwriting talents to the musical version of the British film 'Kinky Boots', which will premiere in Chicago later this year before getting a run on Broadway in 2013.
Brilliantly, to celebrate the show's impending debut, organisers are giving away a free MP3 of one on Cyndi's tracks from it entitled 'Sex Is In The Heel'.
It's the first song to see the light of day from the new musical and big fans can get their designer mittens on it HERE.

JUSTICE GOES BOOM

The gents of Australian dance/urban troupe Justice Crew have been a little bit quiet on the new music front of late, but all that's about to change, with their new single 'Boom Boom' scheduled to hit digital retail tomorrow, with radio servicing to follow on Monday.
To co-incide with the single's release, the boys are hitting the box, appearing on 'Australia's Got Talent' next Wednesday evening to premiere the track, followed by an guest spot on 'Sunrise' in Melbourne on Friday July 06.
Get a sneaky peek of the new track in this behind the scenes video (below);

MAROON 5 : One More Night

Even though their single 'Payphone' is still doing big business here in Australia (double platinum and sitting at No.7 on this week's ARIA chart), Mister Levine and the gents from Maroon 5 aren't hanging about, moving swiftly along to the next single from their album 'Overexposed', revealing the official video for single No.2 'One More Night'.
Adam's a boxer in this one. So focussed is he on the task at hand (training, winning the fight etc) that he all but neglects what's really important to him i.e. his wife/girlfriend (who he treats like a maid/cook) and his child (who he's happy to palm off whenever necessary).
He gets a bruising in the ring, that's for sure, but it's not where he's beaten most.
'One More Night' is due at local radio on Monday.

TIMOMATIC : Can You Feel It

Looks like Aussie R&B/pop star Timomatic can't put a foot wrong at the moment. Single No.1 'Set It Off' smashed the ARIA No.2 spot and went on to sell triple platinum. The follow-up 'If Looks Could Kill' also hit the top ten and sold platinum.
Single No.3 'Can You Feel It' follows on in the same tradition, blurring the urban, dance and pop boundaries to create a track that's suitably primed for radio play. And though the track's yet to crack the top 100 on iTunes, now that the visual side of things is out and about, things could quickly change.
The clip's pretty straightforward, blending some vision of Timo interacting with fans, media and audiences across the world, but it's the post-production on the studio set-up that's really the star here. Walls, floor... they're moving away as Timomatic bounces, slides and dances all over the place. Slick.

NEWS WRAP

• Those gorgeous Melbourne twins NERVO have revealed their brand new single. Entitled 'You're Gonna Love Again', Mim and Liv uploaded the track to YouTube yesterday so that their fans around the world could get a sneaky listen of it. Check it HERE.
• The announcement late last week completely bypassed our inbox, but the lads from Simple Minds have announced a national tour. They'll hit our shores later this year for a comprehensive tour along with Devo and The Church, taking in dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Wollongong, as well as 'A Day On The Green' events in Perth, the Hunter and Yarra Valleys and Mount Cotton in Queensland. Tickets for all shows are on sale to the general public on Monday, July 02.
• Aussie songstress Paulini is in New York at the moment, launching her single 'Fireman' internationally and wowing the locals at this year's gay pride event 'Shark'. She's due to hit Susan Sarandon's Spin Club tonight to perform her other recent single 'Ping Pong With My Heart'.

• EMI has this week serviced Chiddy Bang's new single 'Mind Your Manners' to Aussie radio. The remix features guest appearances from Travie McCoy and Icona Pop and is lifted from a new digital 'Mind Your Manners' EP that will hit retail this Friday. It's set to feature the title track, the Herve's No One Like Me remix and a new tune entitled 'Twisted'. The band is due in the country later this year as part of the Parklife line-up.
• Also doing the rounds at radio this week are the aforementioned new singles for Timomatic ('Can You Feel It'), Christina Parie ('16 & Unstoppable') and Yianna ('Intervention'), along with the new Dragonette single 'Let It Go'. Look for a more comprehensive list of the tracks serviced to media each week over at our official FACEBOOK page.
• Warner Music has confirmed the local release of the new album for US R&B singer Trey Songz. 'Chapter V' features the singles 'Heart Attack' and '2 Reasons' and will be released in Australia on Friday August 17.

• UK outfit Blur are counting down to the release of their brand new boxset in Australia on Friday July 27. To celebrate its release, the band is hitting Twitter on Tuesday next week to perform an exclusive webcast. They'll perform two brand new tracks ('Under The Westway' and 'The Puritan') penned for their upcoming Hyde Park concert. BUT, the difference in time makes it a little awkward for those on the Australian east coast, with the first track due to stream at 3:15am on Tuesday (AEST).
• Ivy League Records has announced that Melbourne outfit Alpine will release their long-awaited debut album on Friday August 10. Preceded by the single 'Gasoline' (hear it HERE), the release will see the band heading onto the road for a comprehensive tour throughout August and September. Check all the details HERE.
• The Sydney Blues & Roots Festival revealed their first artist line-up over the weekend. Headlining proceedings will be Australia's own Lanie Lane, along with Ian Moss and Charlie Musselwhite from the US. Also confirmed to take the stage as part of the first announcement were Mia Dyson, The Trews and Ashleigh Mannix among many others. Early bird tickets for the October 25-28 event are on sale now, with first release tickets available from Sunday.

• They took their sweet-ass time releasing it, but Maroon 5's record label (as well as the band, we presume) will be smiling slightly this week, with the band's single 'Payphone' debuting at No.1 on the UK singles chart. Cheryl's single 'Call My Name' drops to No.2, with Stooshe's new single 'Black Heart' debuting at No.4. A performance of 'Picking Up The Pieces' on the Graham Norton Show sees Paloma Faith's track move back into the top ten.
• Mister Bieber has debuted at No.1 on the UK albums chart with his new LP 'Believe'. It means that poor Ms Cole has to settle for No.2 with her album 'A Million Lights', while Paloma Faith's 'Fall To Grace' improves. Gary Barlow's 'Sing' EP slumps from No.1 to No.6.

ELTON VS PNAU : Sad

Things are really starting to move with the Elton/Pnau project. Not 24 hours after we brought you news that the single would be getting a local release at the end of next week comes the official video for the track 'Sad' from the new collaborative project album 'Good Morning To The Night'.
No doubt by now you're aware of just how much this project is connecting with us. We love it. The Pnau boys have taken something that'll be so familiar to so many (the lyrics to Elton's 1975 track 'Curtains') and blended it with a smooth-as-butter soundbed that deserves to be heard.
They've even given 'Sad' its own retro-tinged video. We cannot wait for this album.

SUPERCLUB, SUPERCOMPILE

The statistics say it all. With volume twelve about to hit the stores, the 'RNB Superclub' compilation series has so far sold over half a million copies across the country throughout the past decade.
And with some of Australia's and the world's hottest R&B stars featured among the tracklisting for the new volume, that figure looks to be added to big time.
Discover J-Lo, Ke$ha, Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, Lloyd, LMFAO, Usher, Taio Cruz, Flo Rida and Pitbull just to name a few. Then sprinkle in some of the finest local urban talent in Timomatic, Havana Brown, Jess Mauboy, 360, Israel Cruz, Stan Walker and Marvin Priest and you've got yourself a fine compilation.
The 44 track double CD set is ready to drop on Friday July 06.

COBRA STARSHIP : #1 Nite

US outfit Cobra Starship scored themselves their biggest Australian hit to date with 'You Make Me Feel' - the lead single from their latest album 'Night Shades'.
Sadly, the follow-up single failed to fire (anywhere really), so they've marched diligently onto single No.3 and have just released the official video for it.
It sees lead singer Gabe picking up featured vocalist My Name Is Kay, who's waiting on her front porch. They head off for a little drive, stopping to pick up plenty of (what we presume will be entirely unnecessary) supplies along the way.
They hit an amusement parlour, a lot full of disused amusement park bits and pieces and then head into the shiny lights of Vegas for the rest of the night.
It's like they've taken a bit of Usher's 'DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again' and some of Britney's 'Till The World Ends' and mashed it all together hoping that no-one noticed.

MISSY SET TO STREAM

We all know by now that Aussie songstress Missy Higgins has a big heart - and her support of the animal rights organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is well publicised.
But we've been tipped off that there's a special Missy event set to happen tomorrow morning Australian time.
Missy is set perform a concert in support of PETA, live from their Los Angeles headquarters. Given her latest album 'The Ol' Razzle Dazzle' recently premiered at No.1 on the ARIA album chart and is set for release in the US mid next month, we're assuming the live set will comprise plenty of new material.
Brilliantly, the concert will be streamed live on the web, but you'll have to be up relatively early to catch it.
Missy's PETA webcast will be live from 7am AEST tomorrow HERE.

BIG FAT NEW LINEUP

As the East Coast shivers through a particularly chilly Tuesday, it's fab to know that brighter days are to come, especially when the peeps from Newcastle's celebrated Fat As Butter Festival unleash such a hot line-up for this year's event.
There's plenty of big name acts to get your teeth into, including hot Swedish duo Rebecca & Fiona, Eiffel 65 and N-Trance (as part of their Australian tour), Yacht Club DJs, Feenixpawl, Bombs Away and Hungry Kids Of Hungary.
Headlining the event are Good Charlotte, 360, Yellowcard and Wheatus, with organisers promising more surprises in the months before the September 22 festivities.
First release tickets are on sale today, with general public tickets on sale this Thursday (June 28) at midday.

EXTRA COLDPLAY SEAT RELEASE

Tickets to Coldplay's forthcoming Australian tour sold like hotcakes when they went on sale last month. So strong were sales for the three stadium shows that organisers quickly added a second date in Sydney to satisfy demand.
A handful of tickets remain for each of the dates.
Now comes news that Coldplay's peeps have visited each of the venues to determine if and where extra seats can be released, with Chugg Entertainment hinting that "a number of legitimate tickets" will be released in the weeks ahead.
More updates to come.

MORE PARIE POPS

Yesterday we brought you the cover image and a little bit of news about former X Factor Australia starlet Christina Parie.
Today, we can bring you a little more news, including the release date of her debut single and the EP from which it's lifted.
Now officially signed to Warner Music Australia, Christina's track and EP are both entitled '16 & Unstoppable' and the singer explains in a statement what it's all about.
"You see so many 16 year olds who want to be 18 these days,” the singer said. “I’m saying I’m proud to be 16, I can still do what I want, and I want to stay young."
She's also very enthused about her signing to a major label.
"Now signed to Warner, I feel like I have the right team and enthusiasm behind me to allow my career to take off in the best possible way. I'm really excited for all of our future plans," she said.
'16 & Unstoppable' the single will be released digitally on Friday July 13.
A digital EP with the same name will be released two weeks later on Friday July 27.

TOURING : Hot Chelle Rae/Cher Lloyd

Here's a little tour announce that's going to have plenty of fans (of TWO acts) a little excited. US outfit Hot Chelle Rae will return to our shores later this year to bring their 'Whatever World Tour' to local audiences.
With hit singles 'I Like It Like That' and 'Tonight Tonight' already under their belts, there's plenty more in the pipeline for the gents as they count down to their October visit.
But even more exciting is that they're bringing UK X Factor starlet Cher Lloyd along for the ride for each of the shows.
Cher's currently single 'Want U Back' has been hovering in the ARIA top 100 virtually since its release, while previous single 'With UR Love' (featuring Mike Posner) was certified gold in Australia for sales of more than 35,000 copies.
Live Nation has announced six shows in total - one in each of the five major centres, along with a date in Canberra.
Tickets for all are on sale on Friday July 06.

October 22 : Sydney (Hordern Pavilion)
October 23 : Brisbane (Convention Centre)
October 26 : Melbourne (Festival Hall)
October 28 : Canberra (Royal Theatre)
October 30 : Adelaide (AEC Theatre)

ELTON HITS IBIZA

Yes, you read that right... Sir Elton John is heading to the Spanish party capital of Ibiza to play some live shows. Of course, it's all together with the gents from Aussie dance/pop outfit Pnau, with whom Reg has collaborated on his highly anticipated new album 'Good Morning To The Night'.
As mentioned previously on the site, the Pnau boys have trawled Elton's back catalogue for little aural nuggets that they've subsequently melted down into dancefloor gold.
We're super-thrilled to report that the single 'Good Morning To The Night' has now appeared on Universal Music's local schedule for a digital release on Friday July 06. You can have a listen HERE.
But we're still waiting to hear about that album... Don't make us import it!

CONOR MAYNARD : Vegas Girl

The story for British teen star Conor Maynard has been a little slow to get going here in Australia. His debut single 'Can't Say No', though hella catchy, managed only No.38 on the ARIA charts before sliding out of the top 100 last week. However, he did achieve much better at home, where 'Can't Say No' peaked at No.2 on the British singles chart.
Moving swiftly along, the singer has revealed the official video to single No.2 - 'Vegas Girl'.
If the opening sequence is anything to go by, he's a smooth cat too... Here's how it plays out....
He literally bumps into 'Vegas Girl' (she's wearing a t-shirt that says so, so we know exactly who she is right from the get-go). Here's the exchange;
Conor : "Oh I'm sorry - I didn't even see you"
Vegas Girl : "No, it's totally cool, don't worry about it."
Conor : "Sorry, what was your name?"
Vegas Girl : "My name's Allora, what's your name?"
Conor : "It's a pleasure to meet you, Allora, I'm Conor."
Vegas Girl : "Nice to meet you Conor."
Conor : "I didn't mean to bash into your shoulder just then... Maybe if you give me your number... I know some good massage techniques...."
It's at this precise moment that Vegas Girl should have been running for her life. In New York.

CASCADA : The Rhythm Of The Night

German dance outfit Cascada has given us some rather golden pop moments over their six year career. Who could forget the amazing 'Evacuate The Dancefloor', 'Everytime We Touch' or the rather cool 'Pyromania'? They've also provided a selection of cover versions over their tenure, including Savage Garden's 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' and Mark Wills'/Jo O'Meara's 'What Hurts The Most'.
For their new single, they've reached for some early '90s inspiration, covering the Corona classic 'The Rhythm Of The Night'.
It's all about a house party, a pool-side poser with the most eye-popping swimming costume we've seen all year, hints of fellatio, a wheelchair-bound disabled woman being tipped into a pool... It's all class.
'The Rhythm Of The Night' serves as the lead single from the band's forthcoming album, but we're not fans - of the clip, of the cover version - or even of the single art (above).

Yes 'Running Trax Gold' is out now and contains tracks from the likes of Sneaky Sound System, Elen Levon, Taio Cruz, Afrojack, Martin Solveig, Israel Cruz, Utah Saints, Avicii, David Guetta and many more.

KYLIE GETS PHYSICAL

That Princess Of Pop certainly knows her audience, doesn't she?
Yes, in news that has made Kylie-philes the world over squeal with delight, Kylie Minogue has announced a short time ago that she'll do a strictly limited physical pressing of her latest single 'Timebomb'.
The CD single will contain the radio version and an instrumental version, as well as the official video. But it's limited to 5000 copies worldwide and is only available via her OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
No doubt they'll fly out the door quickly when the disc is officially released on July 16.

A NEW DAWN FOR CHRISTINA

Sony Music may have passed up the opportunity to snap up 16 year old Sydney starlet Christina Parie on the back of her 'X Factor' success last year, but the team at Warner Music have made certain they're not going to let her slip through their fingers, announcing Christina's signing and delivering her debut single '16 & Unstoppable' to media today.
Co-written by former Idol alumni Hayley Warner, the track suits Christina right down to the ground... It's a pop with a certain rockier edge that will no doubt thrill her fans, who voted her through to the top six of last year's TV competition.
A digital release is expected in the weeks ahead.

URBAN ADDS MELBOURNE

Country superstar Keith Urban may have already jetted back out of the country on the back of 'The Voice' finale, but he'll not be gone for too long, revealing recently that he'd be back on our shores in January next year for a series of live shows.
Kicking off with a double date in Brisbane, the singer will also play shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
Tickets for all shows only went on sale at 9am today, but Chugg Entertainment has this morning announced another cog in the tour wheel, with a second date added in Melbourne to satisfy the demand for tickets.
The new show, on February 03, will conclude the singer's touring schedule and tickets for it (as well as all other dates) are on sale now.

ALL SET FOR A YIANNA INTERVENTION

You'll know the face of up and coming local songstress Yianni from this year's series of 'The Voice'. Her voice was enough to convince Joel Madden to swing his chair, but she failed to get beyond the battle rounds.
It's not the first time Yianna's name has been mentioned here on the pages of auspOp. She was a member of the girl group Trinity, who performed alongside the likes of Jason Derulo (she also made a cameo in his 'What If' video), as well as crooner Engelbert Humperdinck.
But now she's flying solo, with her debut single 'Intervention' being released digitally today.
Described as a "driving dance floor anthem", it was penned by Sweden's Erik Lewander and Hanne Sorvaag, along with former Zomba Australia signing Hayley Aitken (who herself has an astonishing voice).
It was produced in Melbourne at the PLW studios.
Tour dates and an album release are to follow later in the year.
