SATURDAY NEWS WRAP #89

• An update to some news we brought you a couple of weeks back about Wilson Phillips' brand new album entitled 'Dedicated'. The LP is an homage to Wendy, Carnie and Chynna's parents' bands The Mamas & The Papas and The Beach Boys. Tracks on the new album include 'California Dreamin', 'I Can Hear Music', 'Fun Fun Fun', 'God Only Knows' and 'Good Vibrations'. The update is that the LP has now appeared on Sony Music Australia's release schedule - and you'll find it in the shops from Friday April 20.
• The premiere of the video for Alphabeat's new single 'Vacation' is still a couple of weeks away, but the band has given us all a little one minute taster of what to expect... Of course, with the title, it can't not be set in an airport terminal with cabin crew dancers, balloons and big smiles. Check the snippet out HERE. Sadly still no sign of the track on our local iTunes store.
• Speaking of video premieres, Ricki-Lee's clip for 'Do It Like That' will have its global premiere on Channel 7's 'Sunrise' on Monday morning.
• We love ourselves a good megamix as much as the next person, which is why we were so tickled pink when EMI serviced Tommie Sunshine's Katy Perry 'Megasix' earlier this week. It brings together the six hits from Katy's 'Teenage Dream' project including 'California Gurls' and 'Firework'. Check it out HERE.
• With Marina & The Diamonds' new album 'Electra Heart' now confirmed for an Aussie release on Friday May 18, her label Warner Music has announced that the first single from it, 'Primadonna' will be released digitally on Friday April 06. The remix bundle includes versions by the likes of Riva Starr, BURNS and Benny Benassi.
• New to EMI's release schedule this week is the new album by Sigur Ros. It's called 'Valtari' and has been locked into a local release of Friday May 25.
It's been a few years between drinks for Melbourne outfit Tzu, but they're back with a brand new single entitled 'Beginning Of The End' (to be released on Monday) and an eight date live jaunt around the country to celebrate. They'll kick things off at Fowlers Live in Adelaide on May 04, visiting Alice Springs, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne and Ballarat. Check the OFFICIAL WEBSITE for all the guff.
• Rockers Soundgarden have recorded their first new material in 15 years, contributing a brand new track entitled 'Live To Rise' to the soundtrack for the forthcoming 'Avengers' movie. The band is currently holed away in the studio creating what will also be their first album in 15 years. It's set for release later this year. 'Avengers Assemble' is due in cinemas nationally in May.
• Indie pop/rockers Black Fox (pictured) are launching their brand new 7" single 'Day In Lieu' at Melbourne's Workers Club tonight. You'll catch them on stage from 8:30pm.
• Perth outfit Karnivool must be doing something right. They've sold out three dates in Melbourne on their upcoming national tour and have also announced a second show in their hometown. They'll play the Rosemount Hotel for the second successive night on Saturday July 28. Karnivool will be premiering new material at each of the shows, with an album due in the not-too-distant future.
• On the Billboard singles chart this week, the top three positions are stagnant, with Fun., Kelly Clarkson and British boyband The Wanted occupying positions one, two and three. Gotye and Kimbra have climbed another spot with 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and are now at No.4, while One Direction look like heading into the top ten next week with 'What Makes You Beautiful'. Taylor Swift scores a No.19 debut with 'Eyes Open'.
• On the Billboard albums chart, the soundtrack to the hit film 'The Hunger Games' has debuted in the top spot this week, edging out One Direction's 'Up All Night', which falls to No.4. Adele maintains her No.2 heading with '21', while The Shins' 'Port Of Morrow' debuts in the No.3 spot. Odd Future, Melanie Fiona and Esperanza Spalding are other top ten debuts and Gotye's 'Making Mirrors' slips out of the top ten.
• For a little chart love on the local front, don't forget to join us each and every Sunday morning at 9am AEST as we present our weekly Chart Watch segment. We'll give you the rundown of all the top 100 debuts on the ARIA singles and albums charts! Don't forget... clocks go back tonight!

FREE GRISWOLDS

Sydney-based indie-poppers The Griswolds have been cruising down the holiday road with their debut single 'Mississippi', after our national broadcaster Triple J started giving it a good helping of home-grown, unearthed love.
And it's a pretty good thing, blending synth-laden grooves with shimmering falsetto and wrapping it tightly in a psychedelic pop package (similar in vein to MGMT) that greatly impresses.
The five piece outfit is due to release a debut EP in June this year, but they've decided that the best way to wind you tightly around their little fingers before that drops is to give you an MP3 of the lead single absolutely free.
Yes, it's yours to keep for no pennies by simply clicking the 'download' link in the Bandcamp embed below.
In the meantime, check the band out over at their FACEBOOK page.

30 DAYS OF SATURDAYS

British girl group The Saturdays have been trying their hardest since 'If This Is Love' back in 2008 to nab themselves a No.1 single in their homeland, sadly without success. True, they've got close on a number of occasions with six of their singles reaching the top five, but none has quite ticked over into the top spot.
No doubt the girls will be hoping their fortunes are reversed with the upcoming release of their new single '30 Days', which the girls premiered in the UK today.
It takes them back to more of a dance/pop vibe after the failure of last year's album 'On Your Radar' to crack the top 20.
But as always, there's going to be one little thing standing in the way of them reaching their goal. And it all boils down to the blatant stupidity of their record company. Even though we live in a digital age, their label Fascination/Polydor still thinks it's absolutely fine to make their fans wait for 44 days to legally buy the bloody thing! By which stage, of course, most people will have either tired of it or illegally acquired it. Idiots.

NEW VIDGEN CONFIRMED

After blowing us all away on Australia's Got Talent with his extraordinary diva-esque vocals and his stellar rendition of Whitney's 'I Have Nothing', later taking out the national TV talent competition, Jack Vidgen went diligently to work on his debut album.
The result was 'Yes I Am'. The album went into the top five, sold gold and spawned just the one single - the title track, a song Jack co-wrote.
Now it appears he's ready to do it all over again, with Sony Music this afternoon confirming via their latest schedule that the release of Jack's second record is imminent... It has a name and it has a date.
Jack's been mentioning on Facebook this week that finishing touches to the new LP are still ongoing, with the singer reportedly heading into the studio on Wednesday to "record a few more songs."
Dropping just in time for Mothers Day, Jack's second album is entitled 'Inspire'. It's due on Friday April 27.

MADONNA WINNERS

Unless you've been hiding under a rock or in a cave, you'll no doubt be aware by now that Her Madgesty released her brand new album 'MDNA' last Friday. Of course, it's due to hit the ARIA albums chart on Sunday, presumably in the top spot, but that didn't stop us (thanks to the glorious team at Universal) from giving away ten whole copies of the album last week.
Entries into the competition flowed in thick and fast over the course of the past week, but the ol' raffle-tickets-in-a-stay-fresh-tub draw is now complete and we can officially reveal the ten lucky peeps who've picked up a copy of Madonna's LP.
So it's congratulations to;

• Daniela from Carlton North in Victoria
• Jamie from Hornsby Heights in New South Wales
• Glen from Bungalora in New South Wales
• David from Hillside in Victoria
• Michael from Ascot Vale in Victoria
• Robbie from Beaconsfield in New South Wales
• Alex from Wheelers Hill in Victoria
• Joshua from St.Andrews in New South Wales
• Jordan from Upper Mount Gravatt in Queensland
• Nic from Matcham in New South Wales

Congratulations to each and every one of you! You've each picked up a copy of the new Madonna album 'MDNA' with thanks to the super-spunks at Universal Music. Thanks to the almost 100 entries we received for this prize! And eyes peeled please... You never know when or indeed WHERE the next prize may pop up!

J-LO TO DANCE AGAIN

No sooner had someone asked us about the new single from Jennifer Lopez in a comment on the site than voila! Sony Music has confirmed the forthcoming release of J-Lo's new single 'Dance Again' here in Australia.
The singer has once again teamed up with RedOne and Pitbull for the brand new track - the same pairing behind her smash single 'On The Floor', which hit the No.1 spot here in Australia, in the UK and No.3 on the Billboard charts.
'Dance Again' also sees Jennifer return to her former label Sony, after her 'Love?' set (which featured the smash hit 'On The Floor'), which was released through Island Records (Universal here in Australia) last year.
'Dance Again' is set to be released to radio and digital retail in Australia on Monday.

OK GO : Skyscrapers

It doesn't matter what you're doing, where you're doing it or who you're with, you know that when a new OK Go video drops, there's bound to be a little bit of excitement in the air.
You see, the boys ALWAYS give good video. Whether it's cavorting with the Muppets, covering themselves in paint, synchronised treadmill walking, driving through the desert in the latest Chevy, smashing into things just for percussive kicks... There's nothing that the boys don't seem disinterested in turning their hand to.
This time around, however, it's a little tamer, with a ballroom dance couple dressed in colourful attire dancing in front of some rather colourful locations.
It's pretty simple, to be honest, but it's a gorgeous little reminder that life is always more interesting with a splash of colour.

DELTA DANGLES

Her official website has been counting down the days and minutes for the past couple of weeks and, after a slight false start this morning, Delta Goodrem has announced that her brand new single 'Sitting On Top Of The World' will finally drop at digital retail on Friday April 13 after hitting the airwaves on Thursday next week.
The singer and 'The Voice' judge has also uploaded a 30 second snippet of the new track to her website via the Soundcloud link (below).
Delta has also announced that she'll be heading in-store to perform the new track and for a signing (presumably they're pressing up some physical editions of the single for these). The new Delta album is due later this year.

April 13 : Melbourne (Westfield Plenty Valley @ 2pm)
April 17 : Newcastle (Westfield Kotara @ 2pm)

TOURING : Hanson

They slammed the No.1 position on the Aussie singles chart with their debut single 'MMM Bop' back in 1997, achieved subsequent top ten success with the singles 'Where's The Love', 'I Will Come To You', 'Thinking Of You' and 'If Only' and caused mayhem when they visited Australia for a promotional visit.
Putting it plainly, Hanson was one of the biggest bands on the planet in the late '90s and early '00s.
And though they've been missing from the local charts for a great number of years, there'll probably be much excitement at the news that not only will the brothers Hanson (Isaac, Taylor and Zac) be releasing their latest album 'Shout It Out' in Australia later this year, but they're bringing their 'Shout It Out' world tour down under for six shows!
The boys will kick things off in Adelaide on September 13 before visiting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Fremantle. They'll be playing all the hits, as well as fan favourites and tracks from the new LP.
Tickets for all dates are on sale on Thursday April 12.

September 13 : Adelaide (HQ)
September 14 : Melbourne (Palace Theatre)
September 15 : Sydney (The HiFi)
September 20 : Brisbane (The HiFi)
September 21 : Gold Coast (Coolangatta Hotel)
September 22 : Fremantle (Metropolis)

SHOCK SHORT STACK SPLIT

Here's one we didn't see coming first thing on a Friday morning... Not such good news for fans of Budgewoi outfit Short Stack today, with Shaun, Andy and Bradie confirming on their Facebook page that the band has decided to call it a day.
The statement reads;

"Dear Friends,

As you may or may not know, Short Stack has decided to call it a day. thank you so much for your support over the years, we really cannot express how much it means that you have let our music be a part of your lives and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. also a big thanks to all our crew and management / label; and even though we are no longer making music, we still remain the closest friends.
The band started when we were 15 and never imagined in a million years it would achieve what it has, and we are proud to say that after 8 years we are ending on top.
This was by no means an easy decision, but at the end of the day it was obvious each of us are moving on to much bigger things and are ready for the next chapter.
We hope you enjoy our last release SOUL.
Once again, thank you for giving us the greatest adventure, your support means the world to us.

Shaun, Andy & Bradie"

The boys burst onto the scene in 2008 with their debut single 'Shimmy A Go Go', which hit the top 40. They followed that up with a string of chart successes including a No.1 with their debut long player 'Stack Is The New Black'. Both that and its successor 'This Is Bat Country' achieved gold sales accreditations, for sales of more than 35,000 copies.
As mentioned in the statement, the boys' final single is entitled 'Soul'. A slightly heavier outing, you can check out the official video below.

DEV FTG. ENRIQUE IGLESIAS : Naked

Well with a title like 'Naked' and with two hot stuff musicians involved with said single, you'd kinda think that the video for the single might be something altogether sizzling, a little NSFW, a little bawdy and X-rated.
Prepare, then, to be slightly disappointed. Though the old saying goes "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", there's nothing happening in Vegas that's really worth screaming from the rooftops about.
It's all staring out of hotel room windows at the sights, gambling, drinking and having a little stare across the bar - a little like a postcard from Sin City.
So rather tame, yes. But Dev and Enrique do go down with each other right at the end.
The track was serviced to Aussie radio this week.

SADE GOES LIVE

British soul/jazz outfit Sade captivated Australian audiences late last year as they toured the country for the first time in more than 20 years in support of their latest album 'Soldier Of Love'.
Now there's another bit of brilliant news for fans of the band, with Sony Music revealing you'll be able to recapture the magic of those gorgeous December concerts with the release of their new live CD/DVD set 'Bring Me Home'.
The live performance featured on the new release was captured as part of the band's North American visit last year and sees the band performing tracks from across their extraordinary career including ''Your Love Is King', 'Soldier Of Love' and the unforgettable 'Smooth Operator'.
'Bring Me Home' is set for release in Australia on CD/DVD set and BluRay Friday May 25.

GOSSLING GOES AGAIN

We posted earlier this week about Gossling's upcoming EP 'International Love' and the fact that the Aussie chanteuse is revealing gorgeous acoustic live renditions of each of the tracks from it in the lead-up to its release.
Each of the videos was recorded live in Melbourne's Bakehouse Studio and features Gossling performing alongside a guitarist, a drummer and a keyboard player, so it's warm, intimate and most definitely unplugged.
The first live track she treated fans to was the alluring 'Wild Love' (check that out HERE) and now she's uploaded clip No.2 - 'Heart Killer' (below).
In other great news for the singer, the Adelaide show as part of her upcoming tour is now officially sold out, with tickets to all other dates reportedly selling fast.

VAN SHE'S NEW IDEA

Hot on the heels of our article yesterday about Van She's rather intriguing (see : "at times disturbing") teaser for their new project, the Aussie dance doyens have today revealed that they'll be releasing a brand new album in July.
It's called 'Idea Of Happiness' (cover pictured) and it's the follow-up to their debut 'V', which was released four long years ago. The new album is entirely self-produced, recorded and engineered by the band in the heart of Kings Cross, so it's as homegrown as they come.
The boys have also given us a glimpse into the future, revealing the first single (and title track) from the new album on their label's Soundcloud page (below).
It's electro-lush.

Van She will also head out on the road for a series of live dates as part of their 'Idea Of Happiness' single tour.
The new album is set for release on Friday July 06.

BELL BIV POSTPONED

Fans anxiously looking forward to the upcoming tour by US outfit Bell Biv Devoe and fellow R&B sensation Ginuwine will have to wait a little bit longer, with their touring company Frontier announcing this morning that the artists' Aussie visit has been postponed until August.
This one's nothing to do with slow ticket sales or members going sick. On the contrary... the three members of Bell Biv Devoe (Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe) have instead agreed to take part in a reunion concert series with their former group New Edition, in the United States.
Bell Biv Devoe had a top 20 hit in Australia with their 1992 single 'Gangsta' and also guested on the Janet Jackson/Luther Vandross duet 'The Best Things In Life Are Free'. Their 1993 album 'Hootie Mack' hit No.3.
Ginuwine, meanwhile, hit the big time with his debut single 'Pony' in 1996, peaking at No.3 on the ARIA singles chart.
But the delay in their visit is not all bad news, with Frontier confirming they've added a second show in Melbourne to the schedule.
Tickets for the new date are on sale on Monday April 16.

August 09 : Perth (Astor Theatre)
August 10 : Melbourne (Trak Lounge Bar)
August 12 : Brisbane (The Tivoli)
August 14 : Melbourne (Trak Lounge Bar) NEW SHOW

SHUSHI! IT'S STOOSHE!

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing to you a young trio of female pop vixens that the team at Warner Music hopes you'll be falling head over heels in love with over the next couple of months. Their name is Stooshe (pronounced like 'sushi') and they've already conquered the British charts with this, their debut Aussie single 'Love Me'. Of course, not ones to shy away from controversy, the original title of Alexandra, Karis and Courtney's track is a little more blue, substituting the word 'love' for a word that starts with 'F'. And we're not talking 'fiddlesticks'.
Featuring Gym Class Heroes' Travie McCoy in a guest spot, the track slammed the British top five on its release there earlier this month and it's just hit radio down under this week.
The thing we like about this is that there seems to be a hell of a lot of attitude and a very strong British sense of humour. Couple that with a super-colourful clip and three girls you can't help but fall in love with and there's no doubting the Stooshe appeal.
There's a little moment in the clip (about 70 seconds in) where there's a little giggle. It reminds us of the very opening stanza of the Spice Girls' debut 'Wannabe'. Cheeky, carefree, bright and fun pop is what both of these are about. Chuck in a splash of Charleston and it's a big tick from us.

BEATRICE ELI : The Conquerer

We gave you a little heads-up about Swedish songstress Beatrice Eli and her stunning debut single 'The Conquerer' last month here on the site.
At the time, we said, "She possesses an old-school soul vocal that just begs to be heard and when it's combined with the future-pop instrumentation and an explosive, albeit brief chorus, 'The Conquerer' can do no more but weave its intriguing charms upon you."
So we're particularly thrilled to discover that the official video for the single has dropped this week and in the fine Nordic tradition of outfits like Royksopp and Robyn, it's a little dark and alluring.
Essentially, Beatrice has hit the freezing cold streets in the dead of night. No-one in their right mind would be out that late, especially when it's lightly snowing.
But the frostbite, chillblains and hypothermia, we're thrilled to say, were all worth it. Still love this song, but we'd love to have it released digitally here please...

KEANE FOR SOMETHING NEW?

We made mention as part of yesterday's news wrap that British outfit Keane's new album 'Strangeland' had been locked into the local schedule for a May 11 release in a couple of different variations.
News through from their local label Universal today is that the lead single from said album is due to hit digital retail at the end of next week.
The band, led ably by vocalist Tim Rice-Oxley, burst onto the scene in 2004 with their intoxicating debut 'Somewhere Only We Know' and followed that up with the stellar 'Everybody's Changing'. Three albums and a swag of singles later, the band is very much looking forward to the release of their fourth LP.
"'Strangeland' feels like an adventure that brings with it different things for different people, and like any adventure is full of uncertainty, and the potential for mishap, as well as the possibility of amazing things and glorious discoveries," promised Tim in a statement. "I love the idea of the journey through 'Strangeland' being a journey of redemption."
'Silenced By The Night' is due at digital retail on Friday April 06, with the album 'Strangeland' set for Aussie release in standard, expanded and CD/DVD editions on Friday May 11.

TOURING : Sister Sledge

Disco boffins rejoice! News through to the auspOp desk just moments ago is that '70s disco supergroup Sister Sledge will hit Australia over the Queens Birthday Holiday weekend to perform shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The band, famous for their hits 'He's The Greatest Dancer', 'Lost In Music' and the evergreen 'We Are Family', enjoyed a string of chart successes across the '70s and '80s and will hit up The HiFi venues in each city, with all four original members along for the ride.
Tickets for all shows are on sale today.

June 07 : Melbourne (The HiFi)
June 08 : Sydney (The HiFi)
June 09 : Brisbane (The HiFi)

VAN SHE WHAT NOW!?

You know when a little teaser video drops right out of the blue, something's brewing. Purveyors of quality Aussie dance music, the boys from Van She are apparently on the verge of a new release entitled 'Idea Of Happiness'.
But this 17 second teaser video (below) doesn't really give too much away.
In fact, apart from revealing a chap (supposedly named Emil) reclining on a sunbed, scantily clad in a pair of rather skimpy swimming trunks, there's not much else really signal what's to come.
Over on their FACEBOOK page, meantime, they're pointing us to Emil's website, which has countless images (probably NSFW) of Emil in all manner of skimpy briefs in all manner of locations, most of which show off a little more than we might like. There's even an instrumental version of Donna Summer's disco classic 'Hot Stuff' automatically playing, to further throw us off the scent.
We don't know what it all means, Van She, but if your mission was to intrigue us, you've succeeded spectacularly.

MODULAR'S LEAVES TO DROP

Here's a tasty new compilation to pop on your shopping list. The gang at Modular has teamed up with the Bag Raiders to put together the fourth edition in their highly rated 'Leave Them All Behind' series.

And to celebrate the release of the new compile, Bag Raiders will be hitting the road for a series of live DJs sets, kicking off in the suburbs of Sydney on April 04.

FLO'S NEW EP

Australia's love for US based urban superstar Flo Rida is evident - we recently gifted the performer his third No.1 single for his Sia-featuring single 'Wild Ones' and gave him top five status for his single 'Good Feeling'.
Flo Rida will return to the country to perform at this year's TV Week Logie Awards in the middle of April. And while fans patiently await the arrival of his brand new album, Warner Music has revealed they'll be releasing a Flo Rida EP in Australia early next month.
The 'Good Feeling' EP brings together some of the star's biggest hits, including the aforementioned smash singles, along with his ARIA No.1 debut 'Low', club smash 'Club Can't Handle Me' (with David Guetta) and remixes of the single 'Good Feeling'.

JUMP ON BOARD THIS CAROUSEL

We have to admit to being blissfully unaware of this single - or the singer Kristina Miltiadou - until an invitation for an industry showcase arrived in our inbox just yesterday.
But now that we are aware, we think it's entirely our pop duty to inform you of her and her blisteringly amazing new single 'Carousel'. Trust us... We reckon this is one carousel you're gonna wanna climb aboard and take for a couple of spins.
It's fresh and exciting, and as the winds blow to signal the track's arrival (and later Kristina's vocals), you get the feeling that you've just started to hear something that's going to rock your socks. We seriously can't think of better words to describe the track than those from her label itself... "enthralling, infectious, deceptively wild." Yes, it's a seriously strong debut.
Kristina's signed to etcetc (though Ministry Of Sound) and 'Carousel' was released digitally on Friday. Step right up...

JULIA STONE : It's All Okay

Julia Stone's brand new single 'It's All Okay' was serviced to local radio this week. It's the first single to be lifted from the songstress' new album 'By The Horns', which is due for release in the middle of May and sees Julia venturing into more uptempo territory.
Now enter the official video. It sees a blonde Julia driving into the night, searching for something she's unlikely to find. All the while she sings about the love she's lost - the love who's found their new special someone and who's living the life she wished she had.
We really like this track. Ambling and elegant, the piano (especially at the beginning) sounds like it could be from a French art house film. Julia's vocal and the accompanying harmonies are nothing short of sublime. Bewitching stuff.

KAISERS' BEST

British outfit Kaiser Chiefs recently announced a selection of headline dates to go alongside their star turn on the national Groovin The Moo festival. They'll be in Australia in May, so it seems like the perfect opportunity for their record label Liberator Music to pop out a greatest hits.
'Souvenir' (gotta love a stick of Blackpool Rock) brings together 14 of the best from the band's eight year career. And of course, no collection would be complete without the addition of two new recordings to keep the punters happy.
'Listen To Your Head' and 'On The Run' are the new tracks that sit alongside some of the band's finest including 'Oh My God', 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Never Miss A Beat'.
'Souvenir : The Singles 2004-2012' will be released in Australia on Friday May 11.

01. Oh My God
02. Ruby
03. I Predict A Riot
04. Never Miss A Beat
05. Everything Is Average Nowadays
06. The Angry Mob
07. Listen To Your Head
08. Every Day I Love You Less and Less
09. Little Shocks
10. Love’s Not A Competition (But I’m Winning)
11. Good Days Bad Days
12. On The Run
13. You Can Have It All
14. Modern Way
15. Man On Mars
16. Kinda Girl You Are

NEWS WRAP

• Pop queen Madonna has taken to Twitter to drum up support for her just-released new album 'MDNA'. She's been answering fans' questions across the past 24 hours, including some from high profile types like Ryan Seacrest and Justin Bieber. Though the tweets have not been without controversy. Producer Deadmau5 had a go at the singer for her on-stage attempts to glamourise drugs at an appearance with Avicii at this weekend's Ultra Music Festival in Miami, saying "You're a role model to 100's of millions. You have a powerful voice, EDM could use your positive influence, not "molly" talk."
• Things have been a little quiet in the Reece Mastin camp since he conquered the charts with his debut single 'Good Night', but it looks like we don't have to wait too much longer for new music, with the singer confirming via Twitter earlier today that his new single 'Shut Up And Kiss Me' would see the light of day on Friday April 20. The track is a co-write between the DNA boys and former Idol starlet Hayley Warner (who also penned 'Good Night').
• A couple of new release pop albums worth noting have made their way onto Universal Music's release schedule this week; the first from US indie/poppers Neon Trees. The band had great success with their single 'Animal' on the Aussie charts back in 2010, but have been largely missing from the countdown since then. No doubt they'll be hoping to reverse their fortunes when the album lands at retail on Friday April 20.
• Also on the Universal horizon is the new album from British outfit Keane. The band's first LP since 2008's 'Perfect Symmetry' is entitled 'Strangeland' and it's in the schedule in standard, expanded and CD/DVD editions for release on Friday May 11.
• Warner Music has confirmed the local release of Rumer's new album 'Boys Don't Cry'. The follow-up to her stunning debut 'Seasons Of My Soul' (a top 40 album here in Australia), 'Boys Don't Cry' will hit the shelves locally on Friday June 01.
• Julia Stone's gorgeous new single 'It's All Okay' has been serviced to Australian retail and media this week. The track is probably more uptempo than we're used to from the acclaimed songstress, but that doesn't mean it's any less alluring. It's the lead single from Julia's upcoming album 'By The Horns', due for release on Friday May 25.
• Other tracks serviced to media this week include Keane's single 'Silenced By The Night', a radio edit of Swedish House Mafia's 'Greyhound', The Cult's 'For The Animals' and Children Collide's 'Cherries (I'm On Your Side)'.
• Sad news yesterday for fans of Aussie rock outfit Jet, with the band announcing on their website that they were no more. The succinct statement reads, "After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight." Jet burst onto the scene in 2003 with their power-pop smash 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', later achieving top 30 success across the globe.
• Megan Washington has been announced as the headline guest for the upcoming 'Art Of Music' event in Sydney. Washington will take to the stage at the Art Gallery of New South Wales for the Saturday June 02 event and will perform tracks from her last album 'I Believe You, Liar'.
• On the UK singles chart this week, Katy Perry makes a big splash with her latest single 'Part Of Me'. It slams the No.1 position ahead of a No.2 debut for Sean Paul's new single 'She Doesn't Mind', both relegating Gotye & Kimbra to No.3. There's another debut at No.4 - courtesy of Labrinth's new track 'Last Time', but boyband JLS can only manage a No.6 debut for their new single 'Proud', despite the track being an official fundraiser for Sport Relief.
• And on the UK album chart, Paul Weller scores his fourth UK No.1 album with his latest long player 'Sonik Kicks'. The album held off a flourishing 'Nothing But The Beat' by David Guetta to nab the top spot, with last week's No.1 (Military Wives) dropping to No.3.

HEAVENLY MISS MITCHELL

Cast your mind back to late last year, when the gorgeous vixens from Seeker Lover Keeper graced stages at a selection of the nation's churches in the first of the 'Heavenly Sounds' series. It was a roaring success as Ms Blasko, Ms Throsby and Ms Seltmann beguiled audiences with their gorgeous grooves.
For fans of the 'Heavenly Sounds' series, however, today brings with it some rather good news, with confirmation that Aussie songstress Lisa Mitchell (pictured, presumably doing the backstroke) will feature in the second series.
Lisa will perform for her congregations at churches in each of the five major centres, along with a show at Newcastle's Christ Church Cathedral.
Ironically, she'll be celebrating the release of her new single 'Spiritus', which has hit Australian radio and retail this week (cover art below). The track is lifted from a 'Spiritus' EP, which is set for release in May.
Tickets for all shows, meanwhile, are on sale on Monday April 02.

June 04 : Newcastle (Christ Church Cathedral)
June 07 : Sydney (St.Stephen's Uniting Church)
June 08 : Brisbane (St.John's Cathedral)
June 13 : Melbourne (St.Michael's Church)
June 14 : Adelaide (Flinders Street Baptist Church)
June 15 : Perth (St.Joseph's Church)

TOURING : The Darkness

Six years since they last graced Australian soil, British glam rockers The Darkness are headed down under in May for some live dates.
The band, famous for their singles 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love', 'Love Is Only A Feeling' and 'One Way Ticket', will play shows on the east coast only, with dates confirmed for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Canberra.
To get punters in the mood, the band is offering up a free download of their new single 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us', which is lifted from their forthcoming third album, due for release later in the year. You can nab it HERE.
Meanwhile, tickets for all dates are on sale on Wednesday April 04.

May 04 : Brisbane (Eatons Hill Hotel)
May 05 : Newcastle (Panthers)
May 06 : Sydney (UNSW Roundhouse)
May 08 : Melbourne (Palace Theatre)
May 10 : Canberra (ANU Bar)

TOURING : Reef

It's been a heck of a long time since we've heard hide nor hair of British outfit Reef. They achieved a run of British chart success throughout the late '90s and early noughties with tracks like 'Consideration', 'Brighter' and 'Place Your Hands'. It was the latter with which they achieved their one and only chart placing here in Australia - a top 30 spot in 1996. Their albums 'Glow' and 'Rides' also performed relatively well on the ARIA charts.
The band is back, seemingly bigger than ever in the 2010s, announcing that they'll be heading to Australia in June for a series of four long-awaited live dates. It's been 12 long years since the band last visited our shores.
The band will play in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle, kicking things off in the west on the first of the month.
Tickets for all shows are on sale on now.

June 01 : Fremantle (Metropolis)
June 07 : Brisbane (The HiFi)
June 08 : Melbourne (Billboard)
June 09 : Sydney (Metro Theatre)

NEW MAROON

US pop outfit Maroon 5 has announced the release of their forthcoming fourth album. The new album is entitled 'Overexposed' and was recorded in Los Angeles across the past 12 months, with some big names in production lending their talents to the cause.
Swedish hitmaker Max Martin (Britney, Backstreet Boys, *NSync) has worked in an executive producer capacity, while tracks on the album have been produced by the likes of Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder.
"Overexposed is definitely one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet," says frontman Adam Levine of the new LP. "We had a great time recording it. I can’t wait for our fans to hear the record, as well as hitting the road to play it live for everyone later this year."
Titles already confirmed to take their place on the ten track LP include the megahit 'Moves Like Jagger', along with 'One More Night', 'Payphone' (featuring Wiz Khalifa) and ballad 'Beautiful Goodbye'.
'Overexposed' will be released in Australia on Friday June 22.

A LITTLE LOOK AT LADYHAWKE

Less than two months now before the new Ladyhawke album 'Anxiety' hits the shelves here in Australia and Pip is no doubt aiming to up the excitement factor surrounding its forthcoming release by revealing snippets of album tracks in this lovely little two minute snippet.
The video features slices of album tracks 'Sunday Drive', 'Anxiety' and 'Blue Eyes', as well as the lead single 'Black, White & Blue'.
This reveal follows on from her new app for iPhone and Android, along with the official video for 'Black, White & Blue', which was released early last month.
'Anxiety' is due to hit Aussie retail on Friday May 25.

LAMBERT MOVES TO MAY

US pop god Adam Lambert couldn't do any wrong with 'If I Had You' and 'Whataya Want From Me', lifted from his debut album 'For Your Entertainment'.
Fast forward to 2012 and mainstream audiences didn't really gel with his latest single 'Better Than I Know Myself'.
The failure to fire of the lead single has meant that Adam's album release has been pushed back. Originally slated for release on March 16, the album was pushed to Friday April 27.
But this afternoon comes confirmation from his label Sony that 'Trespassing' will finally hit the shelves in mid May.
In the meantime, fans are getting a taste of what to expect from the new LP with snippets of album tracks being uploaded to Adam's SOUNDCLOUD PAGE.
No doubt another single will drop to radio/retail before 'Trespassing' drops into stores on Friday May 18.

BLACK'S BACK WITH PITBULL

The ever-popular 'Men In Black' movie series will re-appear in movie theatres across Australia, with the release of 'Men In Black 3' in 3D on Thursday May 24.
Rapper Pitbull has been chosen to record and release the theme song for the new film's soundtrack, with the track (entitled 'Back In Time') being released to radio and digital retail this morning.
"It's an incredible honor to be a part of such an amazing franchise as 'Men in Black' and I have so much respect for Will Smith, especially with our similar musical backgrounds,” Pitbull said of the new track in a statement. “Wanting to keep the music fun yet modern, we used the slogan of the movie and flipped it back into the song that 'in order to understand the future, you have to go back in time'."
'Back In Time' features a sample of the 1950s song 'Love is Strange', performed by duo Mickey & Sylvia.

BIEBER'S BOYFRIEND BULLETS

Looks like teen superstar Justin Bieber's done something right with his new single 'Boyfriend'... After being officially serviced to Aussie radio (and retail) yesterday afternoon local time, the track has bulleted to No.1 on the Australian iTunes chart.
It displaces labelmate Carly Rae Jepsen's single 'Call Me Maybe', which has been No.1 for the past few days. Depending on how much time Justin stays in the top spot, he may just be on track to make it to No.1 on next week's ARIA singles chart.
'Boyfriend' is the first track lifted from Justin's forthcoming album, reportedly titled 'Believe'.

DANE RUMBLE : Lights Go Out

It's taking a little while for New Zealand R&B/pop star Dane Rumble to cross over here in Australia, but we reckon that his brand new single 'Lights Go Out' might be just what the doctor ordered to ensure that he does.
The track explodes into life with punchy, crunchy synth-fuelled pop beats, overlayed with Dane's strong vocals and a feel-good factor that's turned up to 11.
The clip is pretty impressive too - plenty of CGI and a few different set-ups (our favourite the most simple as Dane & co perform in front of a bank of white speakers) keep things interesting right the way through.
The track is the lead single from a new album entitled 'Exodus', which is reportedly due for release later this year. Let's hope Universal Australia doesn't wait too long to get the ball rolling on this locally.

EJ VS PNAU

You may or may not be aware that Australia's own PNAU (that'd be Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes) have been working with legendary performer Sir Elton John of late, lending their extraordinary dance music and remixing talents to recreate and rework some of Elton's back catalogue.
The first track from the collaboration has now seen the light of day. Entitled 'Good Morning To The Night', the track reworks the singer's 1972 track 'Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters', lifted from his album 'Honky Château'.
And it's a pretty good thing too. The one line repeated over and over again doesn't sound like it'd make much sense, but with Pnau's almost ethereal synths leading the way, it totally works.
The new Elton/Pnau collaboration album is set to be released later this year. You can 'Like' the project on Facebook HERE, as we have.

MORRISON INBOUND

One of Britain's most enduring performers is heading to Australia to perform his first live show on local soil in more than five years.
James Morrison (pictured left), who burst onto the scene in 2006 with his sublime debut 'You Give Me Something', will treat audiences in Sydney to a very special one-off show next month that is expected to encompass tracks from across his six year career.
Favourites including his debut are rumoured to be included in the set list, which will also feature tracks from his recently released album 'The Awakening', including singles 'I Won't Let You Go' and 'Up'.
Always critically acclaimed and universally adored, James will take to the stage at The Basement for the solitary acoustic gig and tickets are on sale on Tuesday April 03.

April 18 : Sydney (The Basement)

BIEBER'S NEW BOYFRIEND

Hopefully we haven't broken too many young female hearts with the above headline... Yes, Justin Bieber's new single 'Boyfriend' has dropped at Australian radio and digital retail and it's bound to cause a stir.
The first track to be lifted from a new album, due later in the year, 'Boyfriend' takes Justin in a much more mature direction. It's slick, sexy and no doubt has the potential to connect the teen superstar with a legion of new fans.
Co-written by Sony's Mike Posner, the track blends beats, acoustic guitar and a little JB whispered rap and deals with Justin's feelings while pining for a girl who he's clearly not yet attracted the attention of. No doubt this track will do the trick.
Check it out HERE.

PROCLAIMING A NEW LP

Scottish twins Charlie and Craig Reid (aka The Proclaimers) burst onto the local scene back in 1988 with their international smash 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)'. Such was the track's reach and success that it still gets played at parties and weddings to rapturous response 24 years later.
The track was lifted from the bespectacled brothers' 1988 album 'Sunshine On Leith', which smashed the No.2 spot on the Aussie albums chart and cemented them as bonafide pop stars in amongst the likes of Kylie, Jason et al.
Six albums down the track, the boys are back in 2012 with a brand new LP entitled 'Like Comedy'. And said new album will be getting a local release through Shock Records in mid-May.
Digital as well as physical standard and deluxe versions of the new LP will drop here, the latter housed in a double disc digipak containing 'The Proclaimers Live At The SECC Glasgow, November 2009'.
Look for 'Like Comedy' in Australian stores from Friday May 11.

ADELE TV PREMIERE

By now you've probably seen Adele's stunning 'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' DVD, in which she performs tracks, not only from her international uber-hit '21', but from its predecessor '19'.
It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions right from the get-go. But if you've not yet seen it, you're in luck, because Remote Control Records has today announced that they've teamed up with MAX TV to present the Australian television premiere of the concert.
Adele performs all the hits - including 'Rolling In The Deep', 'Someone Like You', 'Set Fire To The Rain', 'Chasing Pavements' and the latest single 'Turning Tables' - as well as two cover versions (Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ and The Steeldrivers ‘If It Hadn’t Been For Love’).
'Adele : Live At The Royal Albert Hall' will premiere on MAX on Thursday April 19 at 8:30pm.
