CHART WATCH

Not much in the way of movement at the top of the ARIA charts this week, but with One Direction now in the country, their fans have snapped up their two singles in force, giving them 20% of this week's top ten! Let's get infected by this week's Chart Watch!

SINGLES
Carly Rae Jepsen is obviously doing something right... Her debut single 'Call Me Maybe' has extended its run at the top of the ARIA singles chart this week and has also picked up a double platinum accreditation. Also picking up the double platinum gong this week is Nicki Minaj's single 'Starships', though Nicki's taken two extra weeks to get there.
The One Direction Infection hits big time this week with the boys' arrival on our shores. Single 'One Thing' has edged to No.3, while 'What Makes You Beautiful' has also surged... it's back into the top ten at No.10.
Timomatic has been on the charts for just three weeks with his latest single 'If Looks Could Kill', but he's already notched up a gold accreditation for sales of 35,000 copies and Far East Movement with Justin Bieber have moved up five spots to No.15 with 'Live My Life'.
B.o.B's 'So Good' is now a top 20 hit (No.17), so too Florence & The Machine's 'Never Let Me Go' (No.18), but the Bieb's 'Boyfriend' (now certified gold) is heading backwards... sliding to No.19 after just three weeks.
Rihanna sails into the top half of the chart with her latest single 'Where Have You Been' - it's up 42 places to No.25, but that track we told you about earlier in the week by US songstress Jes Hudak has finally debuted in the Aussie singles chart. 'Different Worlds' has been used heavily in the promos for Channel 9's 'The Voice' and is the week's highest debut on the ARIA singles chart at No.27.
Lil' Wayne's 'Mirror' goes gold, Gotye & Kimbra's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' is back into the top 50 at No.36 and Ricki-Lee's latest single 'Do It Like That' is in a hurry, bulleting 28 places to No.47.
Outside the top 50, Kanye West's track with Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz ('Mercy') debuts in the No.60 position, Nicki Minaj's album track 'Whip It' scores some chart love, landing at No.63 and Taio Cruz' seven times platinum 'Dynamite' re-enters at No.79.
There are re-entries for One Direction ('Another World' at No.87) and Florence & The Machine ('Dog Days Are Over at No.88), a new entry for The Bamboos ftg. Tim Rogers ('I Got Burned' at No.92) and further re-emergences from James Morrison ('I Won't Let You Go' at No.93), Katy Perry ('Firework' - six times platinum - at No.99) and One Direction ('I Should Have Kissed You' at No.100).

ALBUMS
On the albums side of the draw, once again it's One Direction ruling the roost, with their album 'Up All Night' notching up a second week in the top spot. Sadly Aussie rockers Cold Chisel are no match for the 1D infection, debuting at No.2 with their brand new album 'No Plans'.
The rest of the top ten remains relatively unchanged, apart from Lionel Richie's 'Tuskegee' dropping from No.2 to No.8 in its third week on the chart.
Tony Bennett's collection 'Duets & Duets II' enters the top 20 for the first time (up seven places to No.18) and Madonna's 'MDNA' tumbles another ten places to No.19.
Flo Rida's Australian exclusive 'Good Feeling EP' debuts in the No.21 position (expect that to go higher next week after his instore appearances in Sydney and Melbourne) and Rihanna's 'Talk That Talk' is back into the top 50, shooting up 29 places to No.23.
Cold Chisel's best-of surges 13 places to No.26, Labrinth's 'Electronic Earth' debuts in the No.38 spot, the 'Hope' compilation is in at No.46 and Emeli Sande's album 'Our Version Of Events' sneaks back into the top 50 at No.50.
Outside the top 50, the new Rascal Flatts album 'Changed' debuts at No.51, Lostprophets' new LP 'Weapons' is in at No.55, but Lionel Richie's 'The Definitive Collection' is sliding fast - down 37 spots this week from No.19 to No.56.
Michael Bolton's 'Gems : The Duets Collection' is back in at No.63, Busby Marou's self-titled set re-enters at No.65 and Husky's 'Forever So' bounds back into the top 100 at No.68.
Tim McGraw's 'Emotional Traffic' has been stopped in its path - down 28 places to No.72, Trombone Shorty's album 'For True' debuts at No.73 and The Used's album 'Vulnerable' has been virtually annihilated. It debuted at No.18 last week and plummets to No.74 this week.
Justin Bieber's 'My Worlds' re-emerges at No.84 and there are debuts for Alabama Shakes ('Boys And Girls' at No.92) and Seasick Steve ('Walkin' Man : The Best Of' at No.94). The 'Titanic' soundtrack re-enters the countdown at No.97.
Spare a thought for Swedish outfit Meshuggah, though. Their album debuted at No.36 last week. This week? Gone from the top 100 entirely.

Kelly Clarkson's album is slowly dying. Any news on when the third single will be serviced to Australian radio? I wonder if Stronger (WDKY) is almost double platinum.

Adele & Rebecca Ferguson positions please.

Hey Anonymous #3,

No word on the next single at Aussie radio, but Sony usually services media mostly on a Monday morning.
And yes, it's taking quite some time for 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' to click over to double platinum... We can't imagine it'll be too much longer.

Hi auspOp!

Thanks for another great chart round up.

By any chance, has Mariah Carey's "The Essentials" held onto a top 100 position? I'm still surprised the year old collection actually charted to begin with.

Thank you :)

Hey Tim,

No, 'The Essential' Mariah Carey dropped out of the top 100 this week after placing at No.86 last week.
