YOUNG DIVAS : This Time I Know It's For Real
Given we had a look back at Ricki-Lee's second single 'Sunshine' last week, we thought we'd head back to the first single from the Young Divas catalogue this week. And whoever was behind this all-singing girl band certainly had one heck of a camp record collection to pilfer at home 'cause the girls' first album (and their best by a country mile) was filled with kitsch cover versions of classic disco anthems from the '70s, '80s and early '90s.
Paulini, Emily Williams, Kate DeAraugo (whatever happened to Kate?) and Ricki-Lee covered Donna Summer's Stock Aitken Waterman classic 'This Time I Know It's For Real' as their debut - it hit No.2 on the Aussie charts and began the girls' assault on the market. Sadly by the time Ricki-Lee left, Jess Mauboy and a two-a-penny rapper were roped in and they spent all of $2 on the follow-up record the Young Divas project was dead in the water.

I miss em, it was a genius PR move to put together quality members but I think they had no budget on the 2nd album as it seemed very rushed and lacked the right song selections.
I also wish Cosima was still around, she's a great singer!
Massive guilty pleasure of mine!
Kate showed up at Arq in Sydney recently and sung a few songs. She has put on quite a bit of weight but still sounded great. I'm not sure what the point of the show was, bit of extra cash I guess. :/
