COUNTDOWN TO EUROVISION : Moldova

ZDOB SI ZDUB : So Lucky

Sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, we'd presume that the Moldovian music industry isn't huge, but Zdob Si Zdub has actually represented their country once before on the Eurovision stage. Back in 2005 they took to the competition to perform 'Boonika Bate Toba', ultimately finishing sixth in the grand final, held in Kiev.
So six years on after finishing sixth, the six piece (synergism at work perhaps?) is back at Eurovision after trumping their national selection 'O Melodie Pentru Europa'.
There's a heck of a lot of noise going on here. Not too much of a tune to speak of and quite a lot of shouting. There's also a mis-placed woodwind instrument in there somewhere that fights ever so hard to be heard over the din.
Not really fans of this one, but you'll find Moldova in the second semi final on May 12 (broadcast on SBS on Saturday May 14).
