POP GOES SUNDAY AGAIN!

It happened last Sunday - and now Universal Music has used another quiet Sunday to service more delightful pop music to Australian radio.
This week it's the brand new Rihanna single that's one of many great new pop tunes that have gone out to local radio. 'What's My Name' is the second single from the singer's forthcoming album 'Loud' and features a guest appearance by Canadian rapper Drake.
The album 'Loud' drops at retail locally on November 12. In the meantime, get your chops around the new single (below).

LOOKBACK

MICHAEL JACKSON : Thriller

Given it's Halloween, there's really no other video we could post for our Lookback this week (though we were considering a solo single from Mel B - Scary Spice). But if you want something ghoulish, creative, epic, a little bit scary, monstrous, garish, and a whole lot of fun, there's really no going past Michael Jackson's iconic 'Thriller'. With werewolves, zombies, fake teeth, spooky contact lenses and some altogether amazing choreography, it's only a truly brilliant mind that can come up with something this grand. Quite possibly the best video clip in history. Darkness falls across the land... The midnight hour is close at hand... Happy Halloween!!

TOURING : Train

Californian outfit Train first hit the big time here in Australia way back in 2001 with their radio-friendly top five hit 'Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)' and have since gone on to achieve further Aussie chart success, especially with their recent singles 'Hey, Soul Sister' and 'If It's Love' from their latest album 'Save Me, San Francisco'.
Said success has prompted Frontier Touring to announce a 2011 national tour by the band - one that will take in a couple of theatre dates, along with a selection of 'A Day On The Green' events across the country.
Tickets for all of them are on sale on Monday November 08.

MARK SALLING WINNERS

Can you believe it? Last week we had not one, not even two but THREE mighty giveaways to tempt you - the third of which was your chance to win one of five copies of Glee star Mark Salling's album 'Pipe Dreams'. As you're well aware, we popped this one up last Saturday, so the competition closed at 11:59pm AEDT last night. And having drawn out the lucky fivesome who'll be receiving a copy of the new album in the post this week, we thought it our duty to tell you who picked them up!

Congratulations to Cheryl from Vermont South in Victoria, Tony from Concord in New South Wales, Shereen from Tarneit in Victoria, Stephen from Tingalpa in Queensland and Carol from Mount Waverley in Victoria. Huzzah to you lucky peeps - a copy of Mark's album is forthcoming to you.

And as always, a very big thanks to everyone who entered the competition. More giveaways are forthcoming.

SATURDAY NEWS WRAP #31

• Seems like the boys from British man band Take That are still extraordinarily popular in their homeland, with demand for tickets for their 'Progress Live 2011' causing sellers' websites to crash and burn yesterday. Though some tickets were still available late yesterday local time, some have taken to scalping them online already, with some already fetching exorbitant amounts on eBay. Extra dates have already been added to cope with demand.
• Iconic Aussie outfit Choirboys have announced four concerts. The band will mark their return to the stage with the 30th Anniversary 'Never Gonna Die' tour, which will hit Launceston Country Club on November 26, Governor Hindmarsh in Adelaide on January 28, The Palms At Crown in Melbourne on January 29 and the Twin Towns Services Club in Tweed Heads on February 05.
• Despite Cheryl Cole's new single 'Promise This' not being readily embraced by Australian radio in its first week, the single looks very much on track to debut strongly at No.1 on the UK singles chart come Monday.
• The gang from Bimbo Jones are crowing at their nomination for 'Best Remix' in the prestigious Radio FG Awards, to be held in Monaco next month. They've been nominated for their work on the Lady Gaga track 'Alejandro'.
• Central Station Records have announced that they'll take 'Ill Behaviour' - the brand new single from UK based drum 'n' bass performer Danny Byrd - to radio first thing on Monday morning. Already getting some airplay love on Triple J, Danny's expected to make a trip to Australia for some performance time in the new year.
• With yet another version of David Guetta's 'One Love' album due later this year (it's called 'One More Love'), EMI has confirmed with us this week that the first highlight single from it - 'Who's That Chick', featuring the vocals of Rihanna, will hit radio locally on Monday November 22.
• Melbourne's Face The Music Festival, to be held at the city's Arts Centre next month, has announced its fourth and final round of speakers. Evermore lead singer Jon Hume will be there, along with Aussie songstress Deborah Conway, Spicks & Specks star Myf Warhurst, Jen Cloher and many more. All the guff from www.thepush.com.au.
• Aussie DJ Beni has joined the Modular stable. The label made the announcement this week, saying that the DJ and producer would release his fabulous star-studded debut album before the year was out.
• In the United States, The Far East Movement can do no wrong, with 'Like A G6' remaining steady in the No.1 spot on the Billboard singles chart for a second week. Pink's 'Raise Your Glass' pops its head into the top ten for the first time.
• On the Billboard 200 albums chart, it's all Sugarland, with a huge No.1 debut for their new album 'The Incredible Machine'. Kings Of Leon debut in the No.2 position with 'Come Around Sundown', Elton John and Leon Russell debut at No.3 with 'The Union' and Rod Stewart comes in at No.4 with the fifth in his 'Great American Songbook' series. Debuts also at Nos.6, 7 and 9 for Glee, Shakira and Third Day respectively.
• And MTV will launch two brand new channels in Australia this week. MTVN HD will be housed on channel 252 and will feature a selection of live performance programs and special events such as the MTV EMAs, while MTV HITS (pictured below, on channel 808) will feature the hottest new tracks put together for an 13-24 year old audience. Both launch in Australia on Monday.

TOURING : Dane Rumble

After conquering the charts over in his homeland of New Zealand with his debut album 'The Experiment' and giving Aussies a taste of his groove earlier in the year with his single 'Always Be Here', Dane Rumble has announced three November east coast headline shows - two in Sydney and one in Melbourne.
Fans will be treated to a series of the singer's favourite tunes and will get a sneak peek at Dane's forthcoming Aussie single 'Don't Know What To Do', which is set to go to radio shortly.
Seems like 2011 is set to be a big year for the Kiwi star locally.

November 17 : Bondi (Beach Road Hotel)
November 18 : Surry Hills (Gaelic Hotel)
November 19 : Melbourne (Revolver)

WEEKEND SONGS WINNERS

Well the weekend is pretty much here, so for our final act for you pop-filled Friday, we're here to announce the lucky winners of 'Weekend Songs' - the three disc dance/pop compilation album we gave away last week with thanks to the team at EMI.
As always, we had five copies to go and as always of late, we had a heap of entries. But there can only be five winners, so this week congratulations go to...

Dee from Cowes in Victoria, Monica from Traralgon in Victoria, Bronwyn from Ellimnyt in Victoria, Karina who has a PO Box at QVB in New South Wales and Amy from Parwan in Victoria!

Congratulations to you, lucky ladies (very spooky that every winner in both of tonight's prize draws were of the female persuasion) - and thanks as always to everyone who put their hat in the ring for this fine prize!
More giveaways are incoming before Christmas, so eyes peeled for some early presents!

BBQ SONGS WINNERS

Summer's just around the corner and as the weather slowly warms, so too does the need to get into the great outdoors for one of Australia's finest pasttimes - the great Aussie barbeque.
So EMI popped together this incredible compilation album that brings together 101 songs that they reckon will go great thanks very much as the perfect accompaniment next time you fire up the Weber.
Five copies were up for grabs, five lucky winners have been pulled out of the draw - and we're set to reveal them for you right now... So it's a big ol' fashioned congratulations to;

Rachel from Beenleigh in Queensland, Erin from Red Hill in Queensland, Rosslyn from Cooran in Queensland, Julia from Hallidays Point in New South Wales and Kay from New Lambton in New South Wales!

Congratulations ladies on your win - a copy will be in the post early next week for your edification! And as always, a very big thanks to everyone who entered this week's draw!

TINA COUSINS : Sex On Fire

Gosh this track has been a long time coming... (a year and a half for our money), but UK singer Tina Cousins has finally got a video to go with the single proper of her Kings Of Leon cover 'Sex On Fire'!
Here, Tina gets to be a little voyeuristic, checking out all the action going down on a set of television sets that are randomly plonked along a wall. Studying the screens of the teevs, we can see lots of couples getting it on within the confines of the office! Sure, there's some girls and boys getting up to mischief, but Tina's not one to discriminate, so there's also some boys getting pashing and some girls pashing too! And from the looks of where Ms Cousin's hand is headed, seems she's all for it.
All a bit saucy if you ask us - and Tina's voice is (as usual) in fine form.

AKON, JAY SEAN HIT NEWCASTLE

They'll be hitting the country midway through next month for the star-packed Summerbeatz festivals in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, but to keep their fans in Newcastle happy, both Akon and Jay Sean are teaming up for a one-off show at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
This stand-alone concert on Sunday November 21 will see the duo perform their biggest hits - Akon's sold more than eight million albums throughout his career and Jay Sean's 'Down' sold more than three million copies in the US. His new single '2012 (This Ain't The End)' is still impacting in the Aussie chart.
Tickets for the Newcastle gig are on sale this Wednesday (November 03).

November 21 : Newcastle (Entertainment Centre)

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

Seems like there'll be couple of tweaks to the Australian release of Cheryl Cole's new album 'Messy Little Raindrops' when it's released in Australia next month. Though the single 'Promise This' has missed out on a spot on next week's Most Added list, Universal are pressing on with the release, revealing the Aussie edition's cover image to us this afternoon (above).
But it's not just a slight change in the cover image for the Aussie version, with Universal cleverly adding the singer's three previous singles 'Fight For This Love', '3 Words' and 'Parachute' for the local release.
'Promise This' hits digital retail on Friday November 12 with the album 'Messy Little Raindrops' out the Friday after.

X GETS SPICY

The team from X Factor have this morning excitedly revealed that former Scary Spice Melanie Brown will drop by the reality singing show for a guest mentoring role. She'll assist the contestants on next Sunday night's show and will take to the stage on the Monday night to perform a Spice Girls classic with the group.
But she's not the only big name guest to be hitting The X Factor in the weeks ahead. Spanish heartthrob Enrique Iglesias drops by next Monday night for a live performance, so too US sensation Mike Posner.
The week after (Monday November 08), Jason Derulo takes to the stage to perform, with Jessica Mauboy also performing live.
With only six contestants left in the competition, things are heating up, with Altiyan the clear favourite to win.

The album has been No.1 on Australia's country charts for the past five weeks and has remained in the mainstream top 20 since its debut.
The singer is also about to hit the road for four very special shows across the east coast next month, taking fellow country starlet Sara Storer along for the ride.
Kasey will be performing songs from 'Little Bird', along with classic tracks from her previous albums. She'll also be performing on Hey Hey It's Saturday on the night of her Melbourne show. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

MIAMI HORROR : Holidays

We just can't keep up with the boys from Miami Horror - it seems like every few weeks they're releasing a new video clip. And they pretty much are. Their clip for previous single 'I Look To You' (with Kimbra) was revealed at the end of August, their 'Echoplex' video made its debut at the end of September and looky here - another new video clip right at the end of October too!
We love this clip - it's such a celebration from start to finish - a celebration of a journey, a relationship, a celebration of happiness, contentment, of understanding and acceptance and despite a slight physical disadvantage (the guy's got a face like a fridge full of sausages), the sun keeps shining, the punters keep dancing and no-one bats an eyelid. What a wonderful world it would be.

ALEXANDRA BURKE : The Silence

We've been waiting for Alexandra Burke to bust out a kick-ass ballad ever since she waltzed away with the X Factor grand prize a couple of years back and shortly thereafter released her gospel-tinged take on the Leonard Cohen track 'Hallelujah'.
Enter 'The Silence' - a reworking of an Alexandra album track lifted from a re-release of her debut LP 'Overcome'. Yes, it's a ballad. Yes, it's got some big ballad moments - and yes, the clip's in black and white and is styled to within an inch of her fake eyelashes and big baubly earrings.
It's grand, it's stirring, it's emotional, it's raw and honest. It's the kind of track Leona Lewis would be busting a gut to covet and it's got a key change to add further fuel to the pop home fires.
Has Alexandra delivered to us the ballad of the year?

METALLICA'S NEXT EP

We did the same thing with the first in this series of EPs back in September - while Metallica isn't the kind or artist that you'd normally find gracing the column inches of this pop music blog, we wanted to tip our hat to the team who've put it together, because it shows that someone within a record company is starting to think outside the box and give true fans something they want - something unique, desirable and rather collectable.
In an industry where physical sales continue to decline, it's good to know that there are still some that are aware that collectors around the world still want this kind of release and will pay handsomely for it. Watch these come up for sale on eBay in years to come for a lot more than they'll sell for next month.
Essentially, all eight tracks from this EP were recorded live over the last couple of months throughout the band's shows in Australia and New Zealand.
'Six Feet Down Under Part II' is released on Friday November 12.

KESHA'S ANIMAL AND CANNIBAL COVER

Nothing really much more needs to be said on this one, does it? The official cover image for the new repackage of Ke$ha's album 'Animal' with the new EP 'Cannibal' (notice the delightful ripped paper/stapling detail down the middle indicating it's a bit rough around the edges).
It's in the shops Friday November 19, with the new single 'We R Who We R' due at digital retail on Friday.

IT'S HUMAN NATURE

Who's this handsome bunch of chaps? And just what the devil are they doing gambling and drinking!? Looks like Vegas has changed Australia's premier man band, but they are bringing home a brand new album for their Aussie fans - 'Vegas : Songs From Sin City', which is set for release next month.
They'll be dragging out versions of songs that have made the Nevada city famous over the years, including a medley of two Barry Manilow classics 'Mandy' and 'Could It Be Magic'. They've even teamed up with the legendary crooner for the recording.
There are reworkings of Tom Jones hits ('She's A Lady' and 'It's Not Unusual'), Elvis's staples ('Viva Las Vegas' and 'A Little Less Conversation') and the classic 'The Lady Is A Tramp'.
The 12 track LP will be released locally on Friday November 12.

DARIN : Lovekiller

It was back in August when we let you know about the startlingly good new pop release from Swedish popstar Darin - and given he's just released the video for the title track from his album 'Lovekiller', we thought it our duty to bring it to you in all it's dark, epic finery.
Seems that the young man has a little bit of a stalker on his hands - she's a lovekiller alright - and she's brandishing a rather large kitchen knife, killing not just the love but the popstar too.
Things we love about this? The clip is so polished and well produced. It's slick, edgy and dark, with a whiff of a story to it. And we're loving the song too, with it's incredibly powerful chorus, good groove and Darin's killer vocal.
Sadly, this is unreleased in Australia, though you can get your hands on plenty of Darin's previous works on the local iTunes store.

JESS HITS RADIO

The brand new Jessica Mauboy single 'Saturday Night' was serviced to Australian radio mere moments ago. The new tune, featuring a guest appearance by US rapper Ludacris, is the second single to be lifted from the singer's forthcoming album 'Get Em Girls', which will be rush-released into stores early next week.
Also rush-released to retail is this single - taken to iTunes earlier today.
Meanwhile, word through from auspOp reader Dan is that alongside Jess's aforementioned instores in Sydney and Melbourne, she'll also be paying a rare visit to her fans in Far North Queensland, with an in-store performance and signing at Wow Music in Mackay on Thursday November 11.

WILL.I.AM & NICKI MINAJ : Check It Out

Usually when a video is filmed entirely in a studio, it holds your interest for all of a minute before you start contemplating heading to the kitchen to raid the biscuit barrel for a couple of Monte Carlos. But whoever's behind the video for the clip to Will.I.Am and Nicki Minaj's track 'Check It Out' needs a good pat on the back, 'cause with plenty of colour and movement, they and their post production button-pushing buddies have crafted something that's entirely watchable. Combine that with some awesome costuming and a sample of the Buggles' classic 'Video Killed The Radio Star' and you've got yourself a hot little clip. And though the single's yet to crack the top 20 here in Australia just yet, this might be all the help their record company needs to get it over the line. But a warning, there are some potty-mouthed moments throughout this...

PEAS ALBUM DETAILS

More details have emerged today about the forthcoming Black Eyed Peas album 'The Beginning', with Universal Music confirming that the LP will be available in a number of different physical formats when it's released at the end of next month.
Of course, there'll be the traditional CD album, but there'll also be a deluxe version housing three additional songs, a full vinyl version and a combo two disc set that features 'The Beginning' and some of the best songs from 'The E.N.D.'.
The band really hit the big time in Australia, with their previous album spawning the monster chart hits 'Boom Boom Pow', 'Meet Me Halfway', 'Rock That Body' and the monster 'I Gotta Feeling'.
The band's new single - the '(I've Had) The Time Of My Life' sampling 'The Time (The Dirty Bit)' will be released digitally on Tuesday November 09, with the album 'The Beginning' in its various guises out on Friday November 26.

GOTAN ADDS ANOTHER

Not 24 hours after the announcement of a second Melbourne show for French collective Gotan Project comes another that the band will now perform a show in the Western Australian capital.
They've added the Perth show onto the current run of dates, which includes the new Melbourne show on December 09.
Formed 11 years ago, Gotan Project have gone on to become one of the world's most celebrated downbeat/tango outfits, with eight albums under their belt. Their latest, '3.0', was released to critical acclaim earlier this year.
Tickets for the Perth show are on sale on Friday November 05.

December 05 : Sydney (Opera House)
December 08 : Melbourne (Forum Theatre) SOLD OUT
December 09 : Melbourne (Forum Theatre)
December 12 : Perth (Concert Hall) NEW SHOW

FINGER DISC

Universal Music has officially announced the release of the forthcoming Powderfinger live DVD (left). With the band drawing the curtain on an extraordinary career and an equally extraordinary run of farewell shows, it all comes to an end in just over two weeks time at Brisbane's Riverstage.
Thankfully, fans will always have something to remember the band by with the 'Sunsets Farewell Tour' DVD.
The DVD release will feature two discs - one containing a full live concert, with almost two hours of the shiniest tracks from the band's catalogue - and the other with a documentary of the band on the road on their final ever tour.
We're expecting that this one will be in a lot of Christmas stockings when jolly Ol' Saint Nick visits in just under 60 sleeps.

GREYSON'S NEXT CHANCE

Signed to Ellen Degeneres' record label eleveneleven after the talk show host spied the young singer on Youtube (along with around 28 million others), Greyson Chance's chances of success multiplied infinitely.
Now at just thirteen years of age, the young singer songwriter has released his debut single 'Waiting Outside The Lines' in the US - and yesterday he premiered the track on Ellen's talk show. (This episode will be fast-tracked to the Nine Network and shown later today).
Distributed by Geffen Records stateside, there's no word yet on a local release for the track from Geffen's local distributer Universal Music.
His debut album is expected sometime early in 2011.

TALES IN SPACE : Work You Out

We're quite liking the debut single from Sydney trio Tales In Space - and if you like your tunes with one foot planted in the 'little electro' camp, another in the 'indie' field and a third genetically mutated foot in the glimmering world of pop, you're probably going to love what Luke Bert, Allan K and Pieman (he must love pies) have come up with.
The clip is relatively simple - though extraordinarily colourful, employing a slow motion camera and plenty of paint.
Their ‘Ghost In The Room’ EP is set for release mid-way through next month, but the band is hoping to build up a little interest in it by releasing this debut single of theirs to iTunes on Friday.

iSQUARE : Hey Sexy Lady

We gave you the heads-up on a little preview of iSquare's debut video late last week - and now the four piece has revealed the full version. Just to bring you up to speed, iSquare is the brainchild of Diddy, who decided that Briddy, Mike J, 10 Beats and Destiny had something worth putting out to the world.
And it's very 'now'. 'Hey Sexy Lady' heads straight for the dancefloor with plenty of pumping dance beats, a smattering of rap, and some attitude. Though we'd started to wonder when Destiny was going to start earning her keep - her vocal bit comes in more than two and a half minutes into the song.
It's bright, it's bouncy - and given the chance, there's no reason why it couldn't succeed, particularly with the Black Eyed Peas putting out a stinker of a single from their new album 'The Beginning'.

auspOp EXCLUSIVE : JESS MAUBOY COVER

Sony Music has this afternoon allowed us to exclusively reveal the cover image to Jessica Mauboy's brand new single 'Saturday Night', the second single from her forthcoming album 'Get Em Girls'. The track is scheduled to hit radio stations from tomorrow afternoon.
Word on the street is that Jess's new album will be rush-released into stores as early as this Monday to capitalise on the growing buzz surrounding the new LP. She will make instore appearances to perform songs from and sign copies of the new album at Highpoint in Melbourne on Friday November 05 and at Westfield Parramatta in Sydney on Saturday November 06.

SUMMERBEATZ HEATS UP

News literally just through to the auspOp news desk is that the forthcoming Summerbeatz Festival has just got that much hotter, with the addition of two more big name acts. Akon and Ciara have now been added to the 2010 line-up, which already includes the likes of Flo Rida, Jay Sean, Soulja Boy, Travie McCoy and locals Stan Walker and DJ Nino Brown.
They'll combine to perform more than four hours of thumping live music for the four events - one each in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
BUT, Akon will not perform in Melbourne, with promoter Dwayne Cross saying "It’s with great regret that we announce that Akon will not be performing in Melbourne on the Summerbeatz 2010 Tour. This is due to restrictions put on us by the Melbourne venue Rod Laver Arena. We have toured Akon in Australia many times before and we are extremely disappointed that Melbourne misses out on seeing such an amazing and popular performer, however, this situation is completely out of our hands. We look forward to Akon performing in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth."

November 19 : Brisbane (Entertainment Centre)
November 20 : Sydney (Acer Arena)
November 23 : Perth (Burswood Dome)
November 25 : Melbourne (Rod Laver Arena)

GRINSPOON GUERILLAS

The picture (left) is of Aussie outfit Grinspoon and earlier this afternoon they were rocking it out in one of Adelaide's most high profile locations - the Rundle Mall - for another one of Channel [V]'s Guerilla Gigs.
Stopping by to entertain unsuspecting shoppers, the band performed three of their most famous tracks including recent single 'Comeback' and 2004 hit 'Better Off Alone' - and all this while in the midst of their national tour.
It's the second Guerilla Gig in just a week, following on from the Potbelleez surprise gig on the Gold Coast over the weekend.
And still, more of these surprise performances are to come, with the team at [V] constantly giving hints and tips as to where to find the next one at www.vmusic.com.au.

F TO THE LO

Warner Music has this afternoon shot through the official cover image for the brand new Flo Rida album 'Only One Flo Pt.1'. The new LP is set to drop at the end of next month and will be preceded by the release of the new single 'Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)', which kicks off with a tiny sample of Yello's classic track 'Oh Yeah'.
Have a little listen to the track HERE.
'Only One Flo Pt.1' is due on Friday November 26.

URBAN READIES NEW LP

Aussie country superstar and Mr Nicole Kidman Keith Urban will release his brand new album 'Get Closer' in Australia next month.
The new album, his sixth, follows on from last year's ARIA top five LP 'Defying Gravity' and will once again see the singer exploring the themes of love and relationships.
"For me the title is multi-faceted,” the singer said in a statement, “because my instincts have always been to run from the things that are good for me, to run from love. I have always run from intimacy, and marriage has been a real awakening for me in looking at that very differently. That’s what the title refers to.”
EMI has also announced that fans will get a taster of the new LP prior to its release, with highlight tracks being made available on iTunes in the lead-up to it's eventual in-store date.
The first track 'Long Hot Summer' is available now, with 'Without You' being released to iTunes this Friday and 'You Gonna Fly' being made available on Friday November 05.
'Get Closer' will be released on Friday November 12.

GOTAN ADDS ONE

We were bubbling with excitement a couple of weeks back with regards the announcement of an Australian tour from Parisien-based collective Gotan Project. Their alluring blend of downbeat electro-inspired magic will hit Aussie shores in December, with shows set down for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Demand for tickets in Victoria has seen the band's touring agent Michael Coppel announce another show at Melbourne's Forum Theatre - on Thursday December 09.
Tickets for the new show are on sale now.

December 04 : Brisbane (Powerhouse)
December 05 : Sydney (Opera House)
December 08 : Melbourne (Forum Theatre)
December 09 : Melbourne (Forum Theatre) NEW SHOW

INFERNAL : Alone, Together

We're clearly not up to speed enough with Danish duo Infernal. Sure they had massive chart success in Australia six years back with their club banger 'From Paris To Berlin', but since then they've been rather quiet on the home front. Not so over in Europe, however, where they've been consistently releasing product - two more albums since 'From Paris To Berlin' - the latest of which ('Fall From Grace') was released last month.
'Alone, Together' is the second single to be lifted from the band's new LP and it's a little more understated than their last Aussie hit - a slightly softer, purer, more minimalist sound over which Lina purrs.
It's okay - not the strongest thing they've ever put out, but Scandinavia is where it's at kids, so we should undoubtedly be on board.

NEWS WRAP

• A barrage of new tracks have been serviced to radio this week, including the two pop tracks we mentioned on Sunday - Pet Shop Boys' 'Together' and Cheryl Cole's 'Promise This' - but Stan Walker has also seen his new track 'Homesick' taken out this week. It's the third single proper from his album 'From The Inside Out'.
• Sony Music has also serviced Mike Posner's next track 'Please Don't Go'. It's the follow-up to his massive Aussie chart his 'Cooler Than Me' and its servicing is timed to perfection, with the singer in the country this week to promote it.

• DJ collective Swedish House Mafia will hold exclusive Australian screenings of their 'Take One' documentary in Sydney and Melbourne at the start of December. Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso released their collective album 'Until One' on Friday, and the accompanying film follows the producers and DJs on the road. Sebastian Ingrosso will be in attendance at the Melbourne screening.

• And in the UK this week, Bruno Mars has followed the Aussie chart lead, with his single 'Just The Way You Are' plopping over into the No.1 spot on this week's UK singles chart. It beat out the new single from up and coming boy band The Wanted ('Heart Vacancy' debuted at No.2). Katy Perry's single 'Firework' came in at No.5, while positions nine and ten were taken by new entries from Jay Sean and N Dubz respectively.
• And on the UK album chart, Kings Of Leon have done the same as Bruno - followed the Australian chart's lead by debuting in the No.1 spot with their new LP 'Come Around Sundown'. Two Beatles' re-releases at No.4 and No.6 were the other top ten debuts for the week, with Michael Buble's 'Crazy Love' rocketing back into the top ten on the back of a UK visit.

GUY SEBASTIAN BREAKS COVER

Another little auspOp exclusive, thanks to the team at Sony... This is your very first look at the cover image for the brand new Guy Sebastian retrospective album called 'Twenty Ten', due in-stores next month.
The package brings together the songs that have had the Australian public falling in love with the former Idol star, including his Idol winners song 'Angels Brought Me Here' and his recent chart topper 'Like It Like That'.
But the clever thing about this release is its name - it's a double disc affair, the first containing 20 of his best, and the second disc featuring ten acoustic versions. Hence the title 'Twenty Ten' (we realise it's also being released in the year 2010, so it makes it doubly apt!)
Great news for fans of the singer is that the release contains two brand new singles - 'If I Really Loved You' and the first highlight track from the release 'Who's That Girl'.
The latter, produced by Dre and featuring rapper Eve, will hit radio officially on Monday.

CHART WATCH

Let's face it, last week's No.1 album sales were dire. Just 3600 copies for a No.1 album in Australia does not a happy music industry make. But this week, things are much healthier in the No.1 spot - more than seven times healthier to be exact, as Kings Of Leon debut light years ahead of their nearest competition. On the singles side of things, Bruno Mars has ascended to the No.1 spot this week - and that's where we begin this week's Chart Watch.

SINGLES : Bruno Mars has slowly but surely been chraming Australian audiences with his single 'Just The Way You Are' - and it's finally cracked the big time - hitting the No.1 position after nine weeks on the chart.
He sold another 21,020 copies of the single this week. And despite the official chart showing no accreditation for the single at this stage, it's already sold close to 120,000 copies all up and could break through the double platinum mark by this time next week.
Rihanna's still selling well in the No.2 position with 'Only Girl (In The World)' with 19,745 copies, Nelly's moving up the sales chart at No.3 with 'Just A Dream' (16,611 sales), with Pink falling to No.4 in her second week with 'Raise Your Glass' (15,776 sales).
Could that be? Is it? Yes - it's an Australian artist in the top ten!! Dance diva Zoe Badwi scores a top ten hit with her latest single 'Freefallin'. With another 9685 copies under the belt this week, it moves up nine spots to No.9.
Pitbull's new single also moves into the top ten - up six spots.
Far East Movement's single 'Like A G6' moves up 18 spots to No.15 and Short Stack moves back into the top 20 with their single 'Planets'.
Eminem rises another nine places with new single 'No Love', Adam Lambert's Aussie tour pays dividends with his three singles all moving up the charts this week - 'If I Had You' the highest placed at No.22.
The highest debut this week comes courtesy of Taylor Swift, who dropped another track from her forthcoming album 'Speak Now' to digital retail. 'Back To December' debuts at No.26 with 3948 first week sales. Last week's highlight track ('Speak Now') drops from No.20 to No.51.
Enrique Iglesias & Nicole Scherzinger are up to No.27, Paramore's 'The Only Exception' jumps again and Katy Perry's new single 'Firework' heads into the No.37 spot first week in with 2794 sales.
Angus & Julia Stone's 'Big Jet Plane' soars back into the top 50 at No.44, Swedish House Mafia hits the top half at No.49 with 'Miami 2 Ibiza' and the cast of Glee are back on the box - and back in the chart - at No.50 with 'Only The Good Die Young' (1926 sales).
Outside the 50, Sia's 'Clap Your Hands' races up to No.56 (just five shy of the single's original peak), Kanye's new single 'Runaway' leaps to No.58 and there's 'Something In The Water' for New Zealand songstress Brooke Fraser at No.59 (1673 sales).
The Aston Shuffle is in at No.67 with 'Your Love' (1401 sales), Train's 'Save Me, San Francisco' is up 21 spots to No.71, The Temper Trap's 'Fader' is in at No.75 (1219 sales) and Glee's version of 'Billionaire' is back in the chart mix at No.77 (1201 sales).
Jason Derulo drops in at No.97 with 'The Sky's The Limit' and 979 copies sold (spookily exactly the same number of copies his previous hit 'In My Head' sold in the No.96 position).

ALBUMS :On the albums side of the draw, there's not only light years between the sales of the No.1 album from last week to this week, but there's also light years between the No.1 debut and the No.2 debut on this week's chart.
Putting it plainly, Kings Of Leon shit it in this week, selling a very healthy 26,463 copies of their new LP 'Come Around Sundown' to debut at No.1.
John Farnham would have had a No.1 album had his LP dropped last week, with 6069 copies of 'Jack' waltzing out the stores in the past week. He's in at No.2.
Robbie Williams' best-of actually gains sales ground on last week's debut - up three spots to No.3 with another 3611 sales. Eminem rises slightly, while The Script drops three.
Adam Lambert's tour has paid off with his album sales too - the LP 'For Your Entertainment' is into the Aussie top ten for the very first time - and it hits the No.6 spot with 2932 sales.
Bruno Mars' debut LP 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans' is in at lucky No.7 with 2843 copies down and the best (the 'Very Very Best') of Crowded House misses the top ten by less than 450 copies - in at No.11 with 2109 sales.
Brooke Fraser's album 'Flags' drops ten places to No.13, but last week's No.1 (Bring Me The Horizon's 'There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret') drops all the way down to No.20.
Aussie singer Mirusia, who accompanies Andre Rieu on his global tours, is up 28 places to No.17 with her album 'Always & Forever'.
Metallica's eponymous LP is back in the top 50 - at No.35, piggy-backed by the previous Kings Of Leon LP, while Slash's album re-emerges further down at No.39. Powderfinger and Taylor Swift also re-appear.
Outside the top 50, Sia is on the march again (up 15 spots to No.52), so too Lil Wayne (up 31 spots to No.61) and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool (in the other direction, however - down 36 spots to No.63).
Ronan Keating's '10 Years Of Hits' is in at No.66 (625 sales), Paris Wells' new album 'Various Small Fires' is in at No.75 (561 sales), The Beatles '1967-1970' re-issue comes in at No.76 (554 sales) and All That Remains is in at No.90 (482 copies).
Boyzone's album plummets from No.34 to No.91 post-X Factor performance, U2's 'U218 Singles' comes in at No.97 (468 copies) and The Beatles '1962-1966' re-issue comes in at No.99 (464 copies).
