USHER'S DOUBLE PLATINUM

US R&B star Usher will be crowing a little bit louder this morning with news through from Sony that his album 'Raymond V Raymond' has now been classified platinum in Australia for sales of more than 70,000 copies.
Beyond that, his latest single 'DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love', which features a guest rap from Pitbull, has also just achieved platinum success down under. The single is in the top five on this week's ARIA singles chart.

But "due to unforseen circumstances", the singer has been forced to postpone both shows. The Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth shows will all go ahead late next month as planned, but Sydney and Melbourne dates will now shift to October. Tickets for the original shows are refundable at the place of purchase.

• And on the British albums chart, Klaxons get the highest debut for the week with their new album 'Surfing The Void'. It's in at No.10, but Eminem's plopped back into the No.1 spot with 'Recovery' after surrendering it last week to Iron Maiden.

BACK TO HEAVEN

It's one part pop, it's one part dance, and it's all whizzed up 'til light and frothy in some kind of remix Bamix (let's just call it a 'Bramix' for short and be done with it).
It's Remix Heaven 2010 and as with its predecessors, it's taking some of the biggest club and pop hits of the day in their remixed form and presenting them on two jam-packed discs for your edification.

You're sure to be partying every weekend away, starting on September 17.

GOT REMIXES?

By gad, the team at EMI aren't half pulling out all the stops in the Katy Perry remix department, sending out this mega bundle of her latest single 'Teenage Dream' to media earlier this evening. There are ten, yes 10 remixes in the loop, four from Euro producers Manhattan Clique and six from Australia's own Vandalism.
No word yet on digital dates for these, but we assume it won't be long.

RED HOT BELLES

No sooner has Tamara Jaber waltzed off the dancefloor than she's hitting up radio with the new single for her dance/pop outfit Scarlett Belle. 'Freak Tonight' is the girls' second single and follows up their debut 'Closure', which hit the top 50 earlier this year, and it was officially serviced to media just 20 minutes ago. Tamara and Reigan have been hard at work on the forthcoming long player over in the United States, working alongside some of the best in the business including Snoop Dogg, Ne-Yo, JR Rotem, Nate Dogg and even Stargate. They've also been creating with local producers Rudy and Israel.
Though the album is still to be scheduled, the new single will hit digital retail this Friday.

ADAM LAMBERT - GOLDEN BOY

Australians sure seem to have taken former US Idol star Adam Lambert to their hearts - not only have both his Aussie singles to date ('Whataya Want From Me' and 'If I Had You') been certified platinum, but news JUST through to the desk from Sony Music is that his album 'For Your Entertainment' has now been certified gold in Australia for sales of 35,000 copies or more.
It's great news in the lead-up to his Australian tour later this year, the Sydney date for which has already sold out. We're also led to believe that the Melbourne and Brisbane dates aren't far behind.
A deluxe edition CD/DVD set of Adam's album is set for release on Friday October 01.

CHART WATCH

The fade slowly but surely comes off Eminem's reign atop the singles and albums chart. On the singles side of things, he's relinquished top spot, while on the albums side of the draw, 'Recovery' slips below the 10,000 weekly sales figure mark for the first time since its release. But there's plenty more going on besides in this week's Chart Watch.

SINGLES : British singer songwriter Taio Cruz has a No.1 Aussie hit on his hands! His latest single 'Dynamite' has taken advantage of Eminem's softening sales figures and has popped over the line this week by just under 1000 copies. Taio's 23,210 copies beat out Eminem's 22,252 sales by just 958 sales, but it's enough for the No.1 hit.
Katy Perry's new single 'Teenage Dream' isn't doing too badly either - selling 18,793 copies in the past week to retain the No.3 position, Flo Rida in No.4 bagged 14,747 sales and Usher popping into the No.5 position sold 11,062 copies of 'DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love'.
Ke$ha's new single 'Take It Off' strikes a chord with the record buying public - heading into the top ten at No.7 and the week's highest new entry comes courtesy of Irish outfit The Script, whose single 'For The First Time' debuts at No.12 with 5397 first week sales.
Australian Idol Stan Walker benefits from a selection of in-stores around the country, with his single 'Choose You' heading 33 spots back up the charts to No.16. But Taylor Swift's single is down 11 after just three weeks of action.
Rihanna's new single 'Rockstar 101' impresses - up 17 places to No.24, Taio Cruz' 'Break Your Heart' improves ten spots, Jay Sean's new tune '2010 (It Ain't The End)' enters the top 50 for the first time at No.40 and John Butler Trio's single 'Revolution' rises six.
Brand new into the mix this week is Bruno Mars' single 'Just The Way You Are'. Now firmly implanted in the Aussie iTunes top 20 (suggesting a much improved chart position next Monday), the track is in at No.43 with 2063 first week sales.
Vanessa Amorosi's new single 'Holiday' is also in the top 50 for the first time - at No.47 with 2028 sales.
Outside the top 50, things are finally starting to look up for the Potbelleez and their latest single 'Hello'. After floundering in the 60s and 70s for the past couple of weeks, it's finally showing some signs of life - up 17 spots to No.52 this week.
Little Red's new single 'Rock It' also seems to be finding its feet - up to No.54, while labelmates Bliss N Eso surge with 'Addicted' (up 29 spots to No.58).
Kid Cudi debuts at No.60 with his new tune 'Erase Me'. It's in there thanks to 1387 first week sales. And local dancefloor diva Zoe Badwi's single 'Freefallin' is in for the first time at No.74 (1212 sales).
Stan Walker's 'Unbroken' re-emerges at No.76, Bag Raiders' 'Way Back Home' debuts at No.77 (1092 sales), Paramore's 'Careful' is in at No.89 (877 sales) and Soundgarden's 'Black Rain' precipitates on the No.90 spot.

ALBUMS : On the albums side of the draw, as mentioned, Eminem might very well be there in the No.1 position still with 'Recovery', but with sales sliding below the 10,000 mark for the first time since its debut, could Katy Perry knock him off next week? Eminem sold 8800 copies of 'Recovery' this week.
Stan Walker will be happy with his No.2 debut - after a series of well patronised instore appearances around the country, the singer can hold his head high with 5376 first week sales of 'From The Inside Out'.
The next best debut is at No.10 from another Aussie outfit - Miami Horror, whose sparkly new album 'Illumination' sold 2238 copies in its first week. Aussie No.3 debut at No.11 - Adam Brand and his LP 'It's Gonna Be OK' (2194 sales).
Taio Cruz' 'Rokstarr' is up seven places to No.14 and Klaxon's 'Surfing The Void' gives the Modular team some top 20 chart action at No.15 (1626 sales).
The Essential Dixie Chicks are in at No.33 (1108 sales), David Gray's new LP 'Foundling' is in at No.34 (1098 sales) and on the back of more promo (including a star turn on Dancing With The Stars), Vanessa Amorosi's album 'Hazardous' re-emerges in the top 50 at No.35.
Ray Lamontagne is in at No.41 with 'God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise' (972 sales) and Adam Harvey's best of debuts at No.48 with 836 sales.
Outside the top 50, debuts for Blue King Brown at No.74 (576 sales) and Miles Away (No.93 with 428 sales).

OFFICIAL ARIA CHARTS

CEE LO FU

We made mention of the new Cee-lo Green track on Tuesday last week, describing it then as "catchier than a mid-winter cold" and "hands down the most joyous song you're likely to hear this year".
Fast forward less than a week, more than three and a half million YouTube views later and we've got to give big props to the team at Warner Music, who have reacted swiftly to the song's burgeoning popularity, servicing 'F**k You' to radio officially earlier this morning.
And proving that they're on top of their game when it comes to the digital world, they've also already made the track available to buy from the Aussie iTunes store. Lovin' it!

EMILIE HITS SYDNEY, MELBOURNE

We gave you a little heads-up back in June about the local release of the latest album by French chanteuse Emilie Simon. There was plenty to like about the English language album's often melancholic themes, punctuated by Emilie's spiky electronic purveyance.
Well now the singer's heading to our shores for two very special shows - one each in Sydney and Melbourne later this month. And it's anticipated that demand for tickets will be rather high. Catch Emilie at one of the following dates;

LOOKBACK

ULTIMATE KAOS : Casanova

Gosh 'Casanova' was a cracking piece of pop in its time. The year was 1997. Simon Cowell had five years earlier crafted a group called 'Chaos' from five boys, the youngest of whom was just nine years of age. With the addition of the 'Ultimate' and the replacing of the 'Ch' with a 'K', the boys slowly began to get themselves known in the circles of pop, reaching No.9 in the UK with their 1994 single 'Some Girls'. But it was their cover version of LeVert's 1987 top five US hit that struck a chord with us, despite the fact the boys were all still in their early teens and were singing about girls being their 'wife'.

MAJESTIC EX-DOLL DOWNLOAD

Many will remember Kimberly Wyatt from her time as a member of the all-conquering Pussycat Dolls. But after departing the group earlier this year, she's joined forces with US songwriter, producer and rapper Spencer Nezey to create the new musical "artistic vision" called Her Majesty & The Wolves. Taking elements of pop, electro and dance, combining them with art and movement and shoving them into a blender for the best part of an hour, the new collective launches themselves right here and now with the free download of their first ever single 'Glaciers'.
Described as an "hypnotic lo-fi dance track with huge tribal beats", 'Glaciers' can be downloaded free from HERE.
An album is expected to follow soon.

INTERVIEW : Hayley Warner

Hayley Warner impressed many during her stint on last year's Australian Idol. Her powerful stage performances and down to earth attitude won her a cavalcade of fans who voted her all the way through to the final two, where she was ultimately pipped at the post by Stan Walker. Her debut single 'Good Day' was released just before Christmas last year to capitalise on the post-Idol buzz and then she vanished to begin work on new material.
Nine months on and Hayley Warner is back, armed with her angst-ridden new single 'Hands Off'. We plonked on the couch with Hayley recently to talk about the track and her future plans. But we start off by asking her about the video for the single, in which she plays the jealous girlfriend possibly a little too well..

"I’m sure I've been in that position – in terms of jealous-wise, but I’ve never actually had someone do that to me. But if they do, I have a song to play them. It’s good. It tells a story – and that’s what I want to do. It’s so funny though. I think I’ve shot myself in the foot in the sense that I’m not going to get a guy anymore because they’ll be thinking ‘I’m scared of you'," she laughs.

Naturally, her fans will be able to see through the 'jealous' facade. They're fans who Hayley repeatedly describes as "the best in the world", and they're also fans who go to great lengths to prove their love for her.

"My fans are the best. Honest," she says. "They have been with me from the very beginning, even in the dry seasons…. You know how you get excited about stuff but there’s no product? You can’t get everyone revved up when there’s nothing to sell them or show them. There’s a couple of chicks in the team that are just unbelievable. I’m surprised they haven’t got fired from their jobs. I should start employing them and paying them for the work that they do. And obviously it’s now out (the single 'Hands Off') and they’re really excited which is awesome ‘cause you do it for them as well.

Some of Hayley's most dedicated fans went above and beyond the call of fan-dom, delivering a very special, very personal gift to the singer's home.

"They made this website called ‘Warner’s Warnie’ and it’s a massive site where they talk about me the whole time. And they sent me a hat that they got professionally screen-printed and they took it around to every state that I had fans in and got them to sign it. So they signed it and then posted it onto the next person and then it came to my house. It had 20 or 30 signatures on it. Just the dedicated fans," she smiles.

That said, Hayley's been lucky enough to escape some of the crazies who can sometimes come out of the woodwork when one is in such a public position.

"They’ve been amazing. I know their hearts, I know where they’re at, so it’s fine. You’ve got to be careful always and keep your wits about you, but it hasn’t gotten to stalker stage or anything like that," she says with relief.

Hayley flew to Los Angeles for 'Hands Off', getting the opportunity to write with Dan Pringle and another former Sony signing, Leah Haywood. Just the mere mention of her name and Hayley bursts out into her best rendition of Leah's hit single 'We Think It's Love'. She giggles.

"Nearly every day, she was saying… 'SHUT UP'," Hayley recalls. But we question that she must surely be too young to have remembered Leah's hits ten years ago - she would have been just eight years old at the time.

"No, I remember her," she admits. "Because my best mate’s older than me and when I said the name she was saying ‘Oh my gosh – I used to love her’. I didn’t know that much about her and then I looked her up and started researching and then we were singing the songs."

Hayley then sings the chorus of another of Leah's singles, ‘Taking Back What’s Mine’.

"She had to sort of emulate Britney Spears. But yeah, that was an amazing experience, so every song that I heard of theirs, they just hit the nail on the head. So they’ve written tracks on the 'Hands Off' EP, but there’s one called ‘Silly Boy’ which we’re holding off for the second single, ‘cause it’s awesome," she says.

After the one track digital single of 'Hands Off' was released a few weeks back, the full four track digital EP has hit iTunes today. Hayley tells us that the 'EP' concept is one she'll be replicating throughout the next 10 months.

"Obviously being an unexpected artist, people don’t really want to chuck $20 into you, so it’s cool – it’s just five bucks, people can grab it and you know that they’re all good tracks on there because we sift through the crap ones. Whereas an album you might have two or three that are a bit dud that you just chuck in ‘cause you need to. Whereas these ones have been really sought after and really thought about, so it’s awesome in that respect," she says.

"What we’re going to do is release three EPs in the year, so it ends up being an album, but just in different sections of the year," says Hayley. "It’s better that way because you captivate an audience for a couple of months and people don’t just skip through songs ‘cause they’ve got five good tracks to listen to. And then down the track in three or four or five months, do another one and then another one again, just so you’re always on the wheel, because in the industry you can so easily be forgotten."

She adds that though 'Hands Off' is obviously the lead single from the new EP, there may be another track (possibly two) that is sent to radio to back up the EP's release.

"I think there’ll be two or three off this EP that we’ll highlight," she says. "So it’s just like some singles put together, which is kinda cool ‘cause it’s all the songs that people like and they can just grab the EP."

We also ask her whether or not it's difficult to get noticed in amongst all the other Idol contestants that have gone before her. There have been seven seasons of the show, each with a winner, runner-up and countless other performers all trying to compete for elusive radio play.

"I’ve been lucky," Hayley says. "There’s been a couple of R&B singers like Stan and Guy and Jess Mauboy. And there’s been Ricki-Lee who fits kinda everywhere ‘cause she can do everything. Shannon Noll… you know. So there hasn’t been a rock chick in any sort of form that’s made it on that show whether they be signed or whatever. So I’m lucky in that sense that I’ve got my own little niche. But at the same token, every year there’s different artists who roll up so you’ve just got to make sure that you give Sony a reason and your fans a reason to stick by you. ‘Cause otherwise they move on."

For a girl who's just 18 years of age, Hayley doesn't half have her head screwed on the right way. A massive fan of Paramore and its lead singer Hayley Williams, she suggested to her label that she would fit perfectly in a mould made up of one part Paramore, two parts Pink, one part Killers and a sprinkling of Sneaky Sound System.
She and her team have worked desperately hard to create something that they hope will resonate with the Australian record buying public. And she remains acutely aware of what's expected of her and in turn, what she expects to get out of the Sony experience.

"I want to be really careful and think about the kind of songs that I want to do and that’s why the time away and the time to get grounded was a good time. I got to really define who I wanted to be as an artist and ‘Hands Off’ is a good indication."

Hayley's digital single 'Hands Off' is out now.
Two more EPs will be released within the next 12 months.

POOL ALBUM GO-AHEAD

It's been a sad and tragic week for the boys of British outfit Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, with the sudden death of their friend, bandmate and lead singer Charlie Haddon at a music festival in Belgium last Friday.
With the release of their debut album already scheduled for an October release, the boys thought about pulling the record out of respect for Charlie's family. But after speaking with them, remaining band members Joe Hutchinson and Caan Capan have decided to push on with the album's release.
'The Golden Year' will be released in Australia on Friday October 01.
In the meantime, according to an official statement from the band, "Joe and Caan would like to thank everyone for their incredible support and best wishes during this extremely difficult time and ask that their privacy now be respected whilst they take some time away."

SAM CLARK WINNERS

Well last Friday, we popped up another fab giveaway for you - this time courtesy of the lovely people who've been looking after promo for the delightful Sam Clark. We gave away five copies of Sam's awesome new LP 'Take Me Home', which features not only the singles 'Broken', 'Send Me A Sign' and 'Devastated', but also his cover version of the Angry Anderson classic 'Suddenly', which featured on Wednesday night's episode of 'Neighbours'.
Well we had a number of entries (as we seem to do), but there can only be FIVE winners. So without delay, here are the winners of the Sam Clark albums;

Jordan from Bondi in New South Wales, Steen from Kennington in Victoria, Cruise from Singapore, Matthew from Scottsdale in Tasmania and David from Campsie in New South Wales!

Congratulations team! An album is rocketing its way to your place (we don't really know that Australia Post 'rockets' these days...) and as always a big thankyou to everyone who entered!

NIKKI NEW

From what we can ascertain about young Nikki Yanofsky, she's a bit of a national treasure in her homeland of Canada, especially following her performance at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver earlier this year.
Still just 16 years old, the singer hit the top of the Canadian chart with her Olympic single 'I Believe' and has swiftly followed it up with her brand new album 'Nikki'.
Released in her home country in April, the album will now see a local release through Universal Music - and its local release will also be accompanied by the release of her live DVD called 'Nikki Live In Montreal'.
Both will pop into the shops on Friday September 17.

SPRINGING A SOUNDTRACK

You may have seen one or two (or perhaps three thousand and sixty seven) promos for hot new Channel 10 show 'Offspring' over the past month and a half. The program premiered on the network a couple of Sundays ago to some rather decent ratings.
Well whittling away diligently behind the scenes, the lovely folks at Level Two Records have created this altogether wonderful soundtrack which features (and here's a strange concept) AUSTRALIAN music.
Yes, the 'Offspring' soundtrack is bursting at the seems with some quality Australian tunes - 18 of them in fact.
Sia's fab 'Clap Your Hands' is there, Angus & Julia Stone, Lisa Mitchell and Andy Bull feature. Even one of our faves Kate Vigo is there with her song 'The Way You Are'.
The soundtrack is rounded off by a track by star of the show Eddie Perfect and the whole job lot is in stores now.

GIVEAWAY

We told you a little about this awesome new compilation album from the team at One Love a couple of weeks back - it's an incredible three disc set, one mixed by the inimitable Denzal Park, one by the awesome Yolanda Be Cool (who recently brought us the massive chart smash 'We No Speak Americano') and one from those mistresses of mirth, the Nervo girls.
It's chock full of 62 essential club bangers that will be stripping the wallpaper from your neighbours walls from start to finish.
Mark Ronson, Wiley, Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Dirty South - they're all on the three disc compile and the best part about it is... thanks to One Love, you can win a copy right now!
Yes, the awesome One Love team has given us five copies of 'One Love : Smash Your Stereo' to give away to you! And as always, winning couldn't be easier!
Send us an email containing your name and address to auspOp@ymail.com and tell us in 25 words or less the most entertaining way you could think of smashing your stereo! Huzzah! But get cracking! The competition's live for one week only.

Competition closes at 11:59pm on Thursday September 02, 2010. One entry per person. Winners first names, towns/suburbs and states will be published on the site on Friday September 03, 2010. We'll hand pick the five best entries to decipher who's won the booty. Those five lucky peeps will each pick up a copy of the new One Love compilation 'Smash Your Stereo' with thanks to the gang at One Love! And don't fret - your details are kept very safely with us. They're never written on a tiny piece of paper that gets put inside an old lemonade bottle which in turn is tossed off a ship cruising through the Caribbean only to be found eons later by an advanced race of pygmies who've taken up residence on the Sunshine Coast. That would never happen.

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.

GIVEAWAY

Can Katy Perry do no wrong? She disappears after her debut album (as Katy Perry) and a number of us expect her to fade into the wasteland of planet pop. But back she comes, with a sugar-infused hit of candy cane lickin', teddy bear middle fingerin', marshmallow cloud sittin' hit single that rockets to the top of the charts the world over and follows it up with another top pop stomper.
It must be good to be Katy Perry right now.
Today marks the release of her brand new album 'Teenage Dream' - the album which features the hit singles 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream'. And something tells us it's not going to be too long before there's more Katy Perry chart action from the new LP.
And to celebrate its release, the lovely folk at EMI have given us five fabulous copies to give away! Yes, that's five fresh and funky copies, one of which could be winging its way to your place... if the price is RIGHT! (Sorry - some game shows never leave our psyche).
So whatcha gotta do is simply send us an email containing your name and postal address to auspOp@ymail.com with the subject line 'A Very Perry Competition' and you'll be in with the chance to win one! But hurry 'cause you only got a week to do so!

Naturally, you could just buy it here;

Katy

Competition closes at 11:59pm AEST on Thursday September 02, 2010. One entry per person. Winners drawn at random. Winners first names, suburbs/towns and states will be revealed on the site on Friday September 03, 2010. Five lucky pop buggers will each receive a copy of the new Katy Perry album 'Teenage Dream' with thanks to the fresh and fab team at EMI.
And as always, your details are safe with us. At the end of the competition, we used print them out, pop them in the shredder and burn them. * This, of course, was a total waste of paper, so we decided to just press 'delete' on the email entries instead.

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS & GARY BARLOW : Shame

You may remember the sale of the sad implosion of the relationship between Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow during the heady days of the five piece Take That back in the mid 1990s. It was Rob's ultimate departure from the band that was the catalyst for them dissolving and going their separate ways the day before Valentines Day in 1996.
Cue the public spats between Gary and Robbie, the former seemingly having the upper hand as his pop career took off, while Robbie's struggled. But then one little song ('Angels') changed it all. Robbie's career was insurmountable, Gary's floundered, and still the insults flew.
Fast forward more than a decade and Rob and Gaz have finally put all the negativity behind them - and in plenty of respects, 'Shame' is an ode to all the times they didn't share, all the times they never celebrated each others successes, professional or private. It's a bittersweet ode to a friendship lost - and once again found. And for anyone who's followed the TT trajectory over the course of many years, it's all rather moving.

FROM THE SHADOWS OF GLEE

There's no denying that 27 year old Mark Salling is aesthetically blessed. And there's no denying his talent - he plays the popular 'Puck' in Channel 10's hit TV series 'Glee'.
But now comes news that the star will release his brand new debut solo album 'Pipe Dreams' in Australia.
Though he's recorded before under the name 'Jericho', Mark will add his real name to the cover of his forthcoming CD, which features eleven new songs, all of which he's written.
Released through his own 'Pipe Dream Records', the album will be out here through Universal Music on Friday October 15.

It ain't half decent for a first line-up announcement, and full details of more acts can be found at www.thepyramidrockfestival.com.

CANADIAN PLAYGROUND

To say Canadian outfit Audio Playground have only been around for just over a year, they haven't half achieved some decent success already. Their debut single was a cover version of Erasure's classic '(A Little) Respect' and for six weeks, they ruled the Canadian singles chart, leaving some of the biggest names in pop in their wake.
The new single 'Shadows' is now on the horizon - a track that was originally set to be the trio's first single. But they've only gone and got some of the biggest remixing names in the business to bust out some tasty remixes of it... Digital Dog is on the case, so too Bimbo Jones, Tracey Young and Mike Rizzo.
The band will release the single (cop a whiff below) internationally on September 04.

ALEXANDRA BURKE : Start Without You

Afront a glittering silver backdrop, Alexandra, resplendent in a rather fetching see-through thing-a-ma-jig pouts for the camera. Guest rapper Laza Morgan comes in and spews something that's clearly not in English, 'Lex bangs out the obligatory 'Red One' line for all songs crafted by the in-demand producer (a little like 'Darkchild' did years ago) and the scene is set for another tasty pop number.
There's plenty of flesh on show, with plenty of fitty fitsers for the laydees and the gay boys and Alexandra's sure looking mighty fine too, but the song? Melodically, it borrows from the classic 'Iko Iko', Laza does some more reggae-rap that's near on inaudible and, well... Meh.

TOURING : Angie Hart

It's been five years since Aussie singer Angie Hart last lent her vocals to pop outfit Frente, contributing to their 'Try To Think Less' EP back in 2005.
Over the past few years, Angie has emerged from the shadows of the band to bask in her own glorious sunshine, and with a brand new EP impending, the singer is once again hitting the road to play to all and sundry.
Joined on the trek by Canadian singer Matthew Barber, she'll play dates across the eastern seaboard throughout September and October, finishing up in the Victorian regional city of Ballarat.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now.

September 29 : Cronulla (Brass Monkey)
September 30 : Kincumber (Lizotte's)

Over two and a bit months, the country star will hit the road, taking the show from Hobart on September 17 through Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland, finishing up in Toowoomba on November 28.

MIAMI HORROR FTG. KIMBRA : I LOOK TO YOU

We're a little enamoured with the new single from Aussie outfit Miami Horror - 'I Look To You' is the third single to be lifted from the band's debut album 'Illumination', which is in-stores now.
It features the vocals of the delightful Kimbra, whose star is most definitely on the rise with two singles currently roaming around media-land, including her own 'Settle Down', a free download of which we offered earlier this week.
We described 'I Look To You' recently as "an up-tempo '70s-esque disco romp with a funky baseline that sounds not dissimilar to Chic's classic 'Good Times'" - it's rollicking good fun.
The video is kaleidoscopically ethereal, Kimbra gets to try on a few frocks (and a variety of eye makeup styles) and she gets to venture out into the good old Aussie outdoors. Liking a lot.

MINI WRAP

• We get a little depressed when the new years calendars start getting talked about because it's only then that we realise just how quickly we're hurtling towards the end of another amazing year in pop. But that's precisely what's happening in the UK, with Girls Aloud popsters Cheryl Cole and Sarah Harding revealing their 2011 calendars.
• Katie Melua's scheduled promotional trip to Australia this week has been cancelled. The singer, whose new album 'The House' hits the stores on Friday, has pulled out of the trip because of "gruelling schedules which have left her exhausted and in need of rest."
• Sam Clark will be smiling a little brighter this week with the news that his new single 'Devastated' has hit the No.1 spot on the ARIA physical singles chart. The track is lifted from his debut LP 'Take Me Home', which also features a cover version of Angry Anderson's classic 'Suddenly'. And today's the day we'll get to hear it on the Neighbours 6000th episode - tonight at 6:30 on Channel 10. (Incidentally, we're giving away copies of Sam's album this week - click the giveaway link in the sidebar).
• Indie poppers The Checks are off on a tour of the country. Well, to be fair, it's really just Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. But dates are up and available on their OFFICIAL MYSPACE.
• After being touted by Triple J as a band to watch, Ivy League Records has signed Melbourne outfit Alpine. To celebrate, the band will play the Northcote Social Club in their home town next Tuesday night.
• And it seems like Australia's love affair with Irish outfit The Script is continuing, with their brand new single 'For The First Time' already up into the iTunes top ten earlier today. It's the first track lifted from their forthcoming album 'Science And Faith'.

ROB & GARY'S SHAME

Robbie Williams has revealed on his official website the cover image for his forthcoming single, a duet with his Take That bandmate and former foe Gary Barlow. 'Shame' is one of two new tracks to be features on Rob's forthcoming compilation 'In And Out Of Consciousness', celebrating his 20 years in the music business.
'Shame' is due to hit Australian radio tomorrow afternoon at 5:15pm, with the video clip also due to premiere tomorrow.
