SINGLE GUN THEORY : Fall

Still sounding fresh an incredible 16 years after it's release, Aussie outfit Single Gun Theory's 'Fall', from their album 'Flow, River Of My Soul' was a moderate chart hit for the three piece back in 1994. The video, shot in beautiful sepia tones, features lead singer Jacqui Hunt (who released a solo digital EP last year - HERE) and a family coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. It gets a little frenetic towards the end as his loved ones perform a seance in an effort to re-connect with his lost soul. It's an Aussie classic - and should still be on radio station playlists today.

LAMBERT'S VISIT

American Idol star Adam Lambert will hit Australian shores next week for a short promotional visit. The star, whose album 'For Your Entertainment' will be re-released next weekend with the Sam Sparro co-penned 'Voodoo', will visit both Sydney and Melbourne next week. Adam will even head in-store to HUM Records in Oxford Street to sign copies of his album from midday on Saturday March 06.

NEWS WRAP

* Our own Nervo girls (Mim & Liv, pictured) have been hamming it up in the studio this week with none other than Ms Kylie Minogue, writing songs with her for her forthcoming album.
* British website DIGITAL SPY has revealed that the new Sophie Ellis-Bextor album, due later this year, is to be called 'Make A Scene'. Sophie also tells them that the new single 'Bittersweet' has been produced by Freemasons, who she worked with on 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)'.
* Sony Music has revealed that the new Katie Noonan & The Captains album 'Emperor's Box', will be released into stores on April 09.
* Another track that was taken to radio this week (but we weren't aware of 'til just yesterday) is the debut single by Ellie Goulding, 'Starry Eyed'. Universal Music will release Ellie's album 'Lights' in Australia next month.
* Speaking of Universal Music, they've announced an Aussie promo tour for legendary performer Meatloaf. The 'loaf will be in the country from March 03 - March 05, promoting his new album 'Hang Cool Teddy Bear' which is scheduled for an April 23 release.
* EMI has announced that they'll release a best-of for UK outfit Doves in Australia on April 09. 'The Places Between' features a disc of hits, a disc of rarities and b-sides and a DVD packed with the band's videos.
* The new video for the Gorillaz' new single 'Stylo' is due to make it's global debut on YouTube this Tuesday afternoon Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time at 4pm.
* A woman from Georgia in the US has had an incredible $10,000 added to her iTunes account after purchasing the 10 billionth song from the online digital retailer. No Kylie for her, though - it was Johnny Cash all the way.
* On the US single chart, the Black Eyed Peas have ascended to the No.1 spot this week with their single 'Imma Be'. It's chart performance Stateside will no doubt have a massive impact on the band's ability to get the song added to radio locally.
* And on the US album chart, it's Sade once again - their album 'Soldier Of Love' holds on to the top spot for the second week in a row.

DANNII WINNERS

To fantastic Dannii albums - and two very lucky winners of the prizes too! Our own 'Disco' Dannii Minogue re-released her 'Love & Kisses' and 'Get Into You' albums in the UK at the end of last year and filled them to the brim with all manner of remixes and previously unreleased tracks. On top of that, she finally popped out the demos from her unreleased 1995 album. So hot on the heels of the 'Love & Kisses' giveaway on Valentine's Day, last week we gave away copies of the 'Get Into You' repackage and 'The 1995 Sessions' album.
So firstly, 'Get Into You' will be making it's way to... Michael of Swan View in Western Australia.
And 'The 1995 Sessions' will be winging it's way to... Sean from Potts Point in New South Wales.

Congratulations to you both - and as always our thanks to everyone who entered this week's competition. More giveaways on the way (we're constantly planning them, you see...), so stay tuned.

ALEX GARDNER : I'm Not Mad

It has the name Xenomania attached to it's production - so in theory there should be a heck of a lot to like about the debut single for 18 year old Scottish singer Alex Gardner. But though having a top-notch big-name production team on board is a big plus, 'I'm Not Mad' falls over with it's Girls Aloud recording session cast-off feel and seemingly cheap video. A handsome boy in a box of mirrors does not a video clip make - and not a second set-up in sight. It's great to see a young guy coming into the female-dominated world of pop, but it's going to have to be a hell of a lot stronger than 'I'm Not Mad' to make any real waves on the charts.
THIS is where he shines.

KASPER BJØRKE : Efficient Machine

Stomp has just released the new album by Danish purveyor of bleeps and beats Kasper Bjørke. And if like us, you're a fan of Trentemøller's body of work so far, you'll be similarly mesmerized by 'Standing On Top Of Utopia', an album rich and luscious in it's orchestration. The next Aussie single to be lifted from the album is 'Efficient Machine', the video for which debuted earlier this month. And it's altogether intriguing. Paused at two minutes in, we've been introduced you a freckled young man, who seems most interested in anatomy. He's been left badly bruised on both his face and shoulder blades by something, but by the two minute mark, we're not privvy to what.
Seemingly intent on revenge, he's trying to build himself a robot suit out of cardboard boxes. Things are revealed at the end, but not as much as we'd like to know.

CASSETTE KIDS : Spin

Thanks to our good mates at Sony Music, we gave you an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Cassette Kids' new video early last week - and now the final product has surfaced for all to see. The 'Spin' clip has been extraordinarily well received by the gang at Channel [V] too, who've made it their Ripe Clip Of The Week. The gang are performing the dark, but they head for the light, which is when things start to get interesting and they're introduced to all manner of slow-motion creatures. As mentioned, it's only the second time in Australia that the 'Phantom Camera' technology has been used, following on from the Schweppes slo-mo balloon burst ads. Very slick.

THRILLMI CILMI

Now that we've heard half a dozen or more tracks from the forthcoming Gabriella Cilmi album 'Ten' (pictured), gotta say we're a little bit excited. Rumoured second single 'Hearts Don't Lie' is a smooth Moloko-esque dance-pop number that's quickly made it's way to the top of our daily playlist. Another track 'Love Me Coz You Want To' is pure Moroder-esque pop, while 'Invisible Girl' seems to draw it's inspiration from Britney's 'Womanizer'. There's even a 2010 version of 'Sweet About Me' tacked onto the end - which transforms it from it's Winehouse-esque roots to a dancefloor number that blends effortlessly into the rest of the LP. From what we've heard already, we're hooked.
PRE-ORDER HERE.

SIDETRACKED AT THE PRIX

Preparations are well underway in Melbourne for the 2010 Formula 1 Grand Prix, but once again this year, it's not just the entertainment on the track that will have fans racing to the Albert Park circuit.
Now in it's third year, Sidetracked this year will feature a host of fabulous local artists including Bluejuice, Bag Raiders, Bang Gang DJs, Miami Horror and Midnight Juggernauts.
Hitting the decks for the event will be Andy Murphy, Nick Foley, Grant Smillie, Chardy and the incomparable John Course.
Tickets for the March 27 and 28 events cost $10 more than the Grand Prix general admission price, with Ticketek looking after all your needs.

NEWY FOR THE NANAS

Acts don't usually wait for five months before releasing a second single from a brand new album, but the girls from Bananarama aren't your traditional pop act. Sara and Keren will release 'Love Don't Live Here' as the second single from 'Viva' in early April. The girls have reworked the track from it's original album version and will include a new version of 'The Runner' as the b-side. It's due to drop at UK retail on April 12, but in the meantime, check the girls out over at their new FACEBOOK PAGE.

INTERVIEW : The McClymonts

Country music stars The McClymonts have a connection that could only possibly come from growing up together. Hailing from Grafton in New South Wales, the siblings (Brooke, Samantha and Mollie) have spent their lifetimes honing their harmonies, live performances and infectious songs, enjoying phenomenal success along the way. It all culminated in a No.2 debut on the ARIA albums chart last month with their new LP 'Wrapped Up Good'. It remains the highest debut for any album so far this year.
We plopped down for a natter with the girls over a couple of Snickers bars and started by congratulating them on their No.2 album debut.

B: We couldn’t believe it. We’re definitely shocked. As a country artist, we went ‘what are we on the country chart? Wonder if we got a number one, that’d be great.'
S: That was literally how we were. We were thinking top 30.
B: I said top 50.
S: Didn’t we say top 30?
B: I said 50 - I had no expectations – I said ‘Oh we might come in at top 50.'
S: That’s totally where we thought, so number two… we definitely questioned it. We were like ‘Are you sure?'
M: We had them double check.
S: And then we had to wait ‘til we could look it up online.

Of course, if it hadn't been for Susan Boyle's incredible dominance of the ARIA album chart over the Christmas/New Year period, the girls would have had themselves a No.1 album. We ask if they were tempted to send a letter-bomb to Scotland.

S: I know – a Susan comes around only every now and then. People don’t come around and sell what she’s selling these days.
B: Even if Susan wasn’t around, we’d never even think we’d get to number two. Even top ten was…
M: We were still in the top ten four weeks later.
B: We thought ‘okay, our fans have gone out and bought it, we’re number two… I thought we’d be out.
M: Then we’d be out of the 50.
B: Then the week after it was what, six? That’s a lot and that’s why we were like ‘wow – this is really going great guns for us.'
S: And I think that once you hit that initial number two, we always think that means we’re on the wall at the record stores. In the top 20 and it does draw people’s attention to it because a lot of the public do go in and check out the new music.

The McClymonts have had a phenomenal four years, releasing their self-titled debut EP in 2006, their first full length album 'Chaos & Bright Lights' in 2007 and winning the 'Best Group Or Duo' award at the Country Music Awards in Tamworth for three years running. And even though the support is now coming in thick and fast from their peers, the girls credit their parents for instilling in them passion and an incredibly strong work ethic.

S: All up and down the east coast of Australia every weekend. I think mum drove us two and a half days to get us to a festival. And then we sang for two days.
B: For a trophy.
M: And we didn’t realise back then just how much work they’d put into it.
B: And we don’t know how much money – I mean dad was working in a butchers shop giving the cash to mum to get us up to sing. ‘Cause that was our hobby. We thought ‘this is really fun – we’re meeting kids our age who like to sing.' And sometimes we’d change and we’d say ‘I don’t really want to go away this weekend, I’d really like to go to a party or hang out with my friends.' And mum was like ‘fine… don’t do it. I won’t take you out on the road’ and then we were ‘(GASP) What? No! I want to go out and sing!’

But the girls insist, even though their mum was virtually their roadie, she was far from the stereotypical stage mum.

M: No, quite the opposite.
S: It’s quite funny – we’d get off stage and we’d be like ‘How was that mum?’ and she’d reply with ‘Yeah… wasn’t your best.'

We protest that that's an awful thing to say.

B: No it was good!
M: No, because when we did well…
S: She was like ‘you know what? That was great.' But she would also tell us if we were crap.
B: And many more parents should do it. But we’re very judgemental of our performances because of that.
S: We come off stage and go 'you did that, you did that, that was crap and change that tomorrow.' This is in the first five minutes of getting off stage.
M: We’re just honest with each other. And we can tell each other what we’ve got to fix and how to make it better.
S: Like when we watch Australian Idol, we say, ‘see, our mum didn’t do that to us. She didn’t tell us we were awesome when we weren’t.’
B: If there were more parents like ours...

Country music is often overlooked at commercial radio in Australia. It's been a number of years since Shania Twain and Kasey Chambers enjoyed mainstream success and it's only now through Taylor Swift's pulling power with Generation Y that country music has resurfaced on the airwaves. We ask the girls if the perceived stigma attached to country music really exists.

S: Every now and then there are stations who will play us and they’ll put us in their late night spots.
B: When no-one’s listening.
M: But that’s still good!?
S: And put us in every now and then. And I guess that probably comes from the stigma that’s still a bit attached. But they’re starting to play Taylor Swift, they’ve been playing Keith Urban for a few years now, they’ve played Kasey Chambers. So it’s just about getting that one song that…
M: You just need that one person to believe in it and say ‘these girls are great’ and everyone else says ‘Oh I think that too’.
B: And again, it’s the same question you just asked. The stigma of being a country artist. That’s exactly the mindframe that everyone’s in with country music. There’s still the majority of the (makes fiddle/banjo sounds) and that will always be around, but I think it’s been progressing.
S: People are slowly realising that the old traditional country music sound doesn’t necessarily determine what country music’s about. It’s very American based country music now and it is on the same level as pop. ‘Cause what a pop song is is a catchy song that people want to listen to and that’s what country music is too.

We suggest to the girls that being a fan of country music is like a guilty little secret that you keep to yourself.

M: I know of some people who go ‘Oh I love Taylor Swift’ and then you say ‘well she’s country’ and they go ‘No she’s not’ and we go ‘yes she is.'
S: So they don’t like country music, but Taylor’s country and they just didn’t know she was country.
B: And I think that’s where sometimes I think unfortunately you have to question why you have to label things. Why can’t you just listen to the song?
M: Or go ‘yeah we are country, but you can make your mind up.'
S: Taylor’s so age appropriate and it’s so important that she’s singing songs for those kids who can relate to that.
B: That’s really important.
S: I think the kids have really missed something for a long time. Something that they’ve related to.
B: Look at this era where your Britney Spears and Christina Aguileras and Rihannas are all singing quite mature lyrical songs. Taylor’s just come out and said ‘you know what? I’m 20 years old and I’m going to sing about stuff that I’m going through.' And I think it’s great.

Apart from both being country music artists, the girls actually have another slight connection with Taylor Swift. Producer Nathan Chapman, who worked on Taylor's album 'Fearless', has worked with the girls on their albums, including 'Wrapped Up Good'.

B: Oh my god he’s so lovely.
S: He is – and we worked with him on the first record. Brooke wrote ‘My Life Again’ with him and that’s how we met him. He recorded Taylor’s first record and hadn’t got the first cheque yet, so had no idea really where that was going to take him. And then two years later, we wrote with him for this new record and he said ‘Oh who’s producing you?’ and we said ‘Look, we’re not sure yet’ and he said ‘Look, I don’t have a lot of time, but I’d love to produce four tracks' and we were just like, 'um… okay!' And it was great that two years later, (and he is in the flashy cars and his cheques have cleared now) that he wanted to work with us, sourced us out and asked to produce. It’s a nice feeling that he believed in our music.
B: He’s behind the music, which is nice.

While 'Wrapped Up Good' continues to inhabit the top 20 ARIA chart locally, the girls are hard at work, on the road for a swag of live dates, re-commencing on March 04 at The Basement in Sydney. But they'll also shortly be heading across to the US, where their first album 'Chaos & Bright Lights' is being readied for a Stateside release.

S: A distribution company found us and found ‘Chaos & Bright Lights’ and said ‘We love this record.' 'Cause we actually weren’t releasing it over there. They came to us and did all the work and found this record and said…
B: 'We’re gonna make you big.'
S: Well that’s what they’ve said.
M: And they’re so positive.
B: So our thing is that we’re just going to hook in, just give it a real go.
S: It works completely differently in America. You actually have to sing to music directors in a board room before they even consider putting you on the radio.
B: So sometimes we’ll go in and we’ll have to perform for just one person – the MD.
S: And he’ll have three artists come through that day.
M: But do you know what the good thing was? It’s such an accomplishment when they said 'oh, you’re actually good. Do you want to come on radio?'
S: And then they’d take us in to the studio and do an interview.
M: In one town, there’d be three stations dedicated to country music, so it’s like a totally different world over there where that genre is completely celebrated.
B: Like you said, three new acts a day are trying to sing live and then we’ve got to compete.
S: It’s quite a weird saying when someone does say to you… 'Oh! Oh you can sing!?' And it’s kind of like ‘well yes…?'
B: But that’s the problem with today in the music business.
M: You don’t have to be a singer.
S: But I do think it’s the entertainment factor too because the people even with the best voices - sometimes they don’t sell because they’re not entertaining enough.
B: It’s a combination of things.
S: It’s all about luck!

And with plenty of that, oodles of talent, great harmonies, well-produced country/pop songs and a couple of Snickers bars packed in their swags, one can only assume that the Americans will fall for them almost as much as we have.

The No.2 album 'Wrapped Up Good' is at retail in Australia now.
'Chaos & Bright Lights' is scheduled for a US release in Spring.
The McClymonts tour Australia between March 04 and May 07. Full list of dates available on the band's OFFICIAL MYSPACE.

SORBELLO GETS HER HUSSLE ON

We introduced you to the delights of Sydney songstress Chris Sorbello late last year, when we described her tunes as "rather tasty '80s electro" and that she had "the look, the sound and obviously the right people around her to ensure that she'll indeed be one to watch in the months and years ahead."
Fast forward almost four months and Chris has signed to Hussle Records, under the massive Ministry Of Sound umbrella, and her debut single 'So Lonely' has been taken to Australian radio in the hope that it sees what Hussle sees - a young lady primed for pop success. And whether she succeeds with single No.1 or not, we maintain that Chris Sorbello is most definitely "one to watch".

JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE : Show Me The Night

We gave you a little heads-up on new Aussie duo Jump Jump Dance Dance earlier this month - and hot on the heels of their debut single 'Do It For Love' comes the brand new track 'Show Me The Night'. There's also a brand new video to go with it - and we almost felt like we need 3D glasses to enjoy it. It's the reds, the greens and the blues that are all overlapped - we even grabbed the nearest pair of 3D specs to check. And through them, it felt like we were on the most extraordinary trip of our lives.

CREAMFIELDS

We've been a little amiss in not covering the Creamfields Festival, coming soon to a city near you. It's the dance festival's very first visit to Australian shores and when it hits in May, it's going to impress with it's stellar line-up of international dance music talent.
The Bloody Beetroots are on board, as are Steve Angello, MSTRKRFT, Ferry Corsten and LMFAO.
Joining them will be Marco V, Dirty South, Lifelike and Riva Starr, along with a swag of other local and international artists.
More artists will be added to the bill shortly, with tickets for all dates on sale now.

LEONA LEWIS : I Got You

The Leona Lewis project has kinda stalled in Australia of late, with her single 'Happy' barely scraping the ARIA top 30 late last year. Follow-up single 'I Got You' is waiting in the wings, with a slick video and catchy chorus. Leona (as always) looks completely stunning in the clip, pouting and purring in front of a heart in flames. It's a pleasant enough pop song, but it's far from the mega-hit she needs.

FREE JBT

The John Butler Trio enjoyed some rather fab chart success with their recent single 'One Way Road'. It entered the ARIA top 50 back in December at a very respectable No.15. The track is the first to be lifted from the forthcoming album 'April Uprising', the cover of which (above) broke in the last few days.
But to say a big 'thankyou' to everyone who supported the single, the JBT is giving away a live version of the track FREE!
No signing up for anything - just download away, and you can head to where you need to get your hands on it by simply clicking HERE! Thanks JBT!

WHITLEY : Killer

Melbourne's Whitley has revealed a brand new video for a brand new single from his brand new album 'Go Forth, Find Mammoth'. And it's got to be said - it's all 'Killer', no filler. (Sorry, it had to be said). Anyways, it's another animated offering, hot on the heels of Bertie Blackman's new clip. But no scary black creatures with what looks like bowling pins shoved where the sun don't shine here... Oh no. This one revolves around a plucky young policeman leaving the sanctuary of his bed and partner, heading out onto the beat in amongst the seedier elements of society, when all of a sudden he's bitten by a wolf. Right there in the middle of suburbia. They're probably coming into the city looking for food 'cause of the drought affecting the country areas so badly, you see. But what happens next is a devastating twist of fate. We'll not ruin the surprise. But it kept us hooked right 'til the end.

ROGUE TRADERS BREAK COVER

Can you believe it? Two pieces of Rogue Traders information within 24 hours!? How often does that happen? So here it is - your very first look at the cover image for the new Rogue Traders single 'Would You Raise Your Hands'. The track borrows a little from the classic Adam & The Ants track 'Ant Music'. It goes to radio next week, with a new Sony press release reporting that the album is now due for release in June.

CHART WATCH

Finally there's a bit of action on the ARIA charts - with plenty of movement on both albums and singles charts this week, including a new No.1 on the latter. Let's have a look at what's gone on with this week's Chart Watch;

SINGLES : It's a brand new No.1 this week on the ARIA singles chart - and on debut, something that hasn't happened on the Aussie singles chart since Vanessa Amorosi's 'This Is Who I Am' back in October. Jason Derulo nabs the top spot with his new single 'In My Head' - but only 712 copies separated him from last week's No.1, Iyaz.
Jason sold 16,129 copies of 'In My Head' as opposed to 15,417 copies of Iyaz' 'Replay'.
Australia's love affair with Taylor Swift continues - her single 'Today Was A Fairytale', lifted from the soundtrack to Australia's No.1 movie 'Valentine's Day', moves up three places to No.3 this week with 14,830 sales.
Owl City's 'Fireflies' drops two to No.4 (13,674 sales), while The Midnight Beast's parody of Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok' continues to impress on the charts, selling 10,365 copies last week to rise from No.16 to No.5.
Rihanna's new single 'Rude Boy' continues it's charge up the charts - up from No.17 to No.8 this week with 8668 sales, while Cheryl Cole now has a top ten hit in Australia on her hands with single '3 Words'. It's up to No.9 this week in only it's second week on the chart. 7924 people snapped it up last week.
Gabriella Cilmi's new single 'On A Mission' moves up to No.16 (5624 sales) and there are top 20 debuts for the new version of 'We Are The World' (No.18 with 5523 sales) and k.d.Lang's stirring version of the Leonard Cohen classic 'Hallelujah' which the singer performed at the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics. It debuted at No.19 with 5014 sales.
Another song for Haiti comes in at No.28 - it's Simon Cowell's cover version of 'Everybody Hurts', featuring vocals from Kylie, Take That, Robbie etc etc. 3349 sales last week.
Pitbull's into the top 50 at No.37 with new single 'Shut It Down' (2614 sales), Alicia Keys debuts at No.42 with 'Put It In A Love Song' (2554 sales), John Mayer's also into the top 50 action with new single 'Heartbreak Warfare' at No.46 (1994 sales) and Florence & The Machine enters at No.50 with 'You've Got The Love' (1859 sales).
Outside the top 50, Justin Bieber's track with Ludacris ('Baby') has sunk from No.36 to No.61, Timbaland's track with Katy Perry ('If We Ever Meet Again') has debuted at No.62 (1406 sales) and Chris Brown's latest single 'Crawl' has popped in at No.67 (1359 sales).
Debuts further down for Train ('Hey, Soul Sister' at No.72 - 1270 copies), Operator Please ('Logic' at No.73 - 1235 copies) and T-Pain ('Take Your Shirt Off' at No.82 - 1126 sales), while Melbourne's Miami Horror is back into the chart action at No.90 with 'Sometimes' (946 sales).

ALBUMS : It's Mumford & Sons once again this week - holding on to the No.1 position on the ARIA album chart for a second week with a further 7305 sales of their album 'Sigh No More'.
Susan Boyle holds steady at No.2 with 'I Dreamed A Dream' (6520 sales), while in the No.3 position, Canadian songstress k.d.Lang bullets from No.56 with her best-of 'Recollection'. It sold 5753 copies in the last week.
Sade's long-awaited new album 'Soldier Of Love' debuts strongly in the No.4 position - with 5235 sales under it's belt.
With sell-out stadium shows across the country, it didn't take long for AC/DC's album 'Black Ice' to rocket back up the chart - it's up to No.11 this week with 2390 more copies in the bag, while Brits success doesn't seem to have done Florence & The Machine's chart performance in Australia any harm - their album 'Lungs' is up to No.12 with 2156 copies sold.
Rob Thomas' tour of the country has also helped sales of his latest album 'Cradlesong' - up four places to No.13 (2105 sales).
Jumps for John Mayer (No.28 to No.20) and Rihanna (No.35 to No.21), a debut for Fear Factory at No.24 (1398 sales) and a drop for Birds Of Tokyo (No.11 to No.27).

Outside the top 50, Gossip's 'Music For Men' jumps twenty places to No.51 (788 sales), Peter Gabriel's 'Scratch My Back' plops in at No.59 (713 sales) and Cliff Richard and The Shadows' visit to our shores has seen their 'Reunited' set move back into the top 100 at No.63 (683 sales).

MINISTRY'S ELECTRONIC 80S

We seriously don't know where the devil the Ministry Of Sound team finds the time to keep coming up with all these compilation albums, but somehow they do - and they deliver with such frequency and quality that's it's often hard for the opposition to get a look-in. Take their latest compilation 'Electronic '80s' for example. It's bursting at the seams with some of the most awesome electronic goodies from the hypercolour t-shirt era that you're ever likely to see - and they're all fully laden on three plastic compact discs - another product of the 1980s.
And with tracks by Spandau Ballet and Human League sitting alongside those by Heaven 17, Duran Duran, Kim Wilde, Joy Division, OMD, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Talk Talk and many more, you can be assured the collection's going to take you for a little disco dance down memory lane. Just don't forget your leg warmers and snap bangles.
It's in-stores March 26.

BERTIE BLACKMAN : Black Cats

The lovely Bertie Blackman has plopped out another single and another video from her latest album 'Secrets And Lies' - and it's an animated affair. It would appear the singer's lost her cat, 'cause she's been popping 'lost' posters all over the place. Alas, some scary black creature which has what looks like a bowling pin stuck up it's rear end decides that it could pass itself off as said lost cat and will therefore reap the massive cash reward on offer. Thankfully the real cat gets wind of this while on a leisurely cruise, and by rubbing a small bottle, is able to summon a strange sky-demon genie type character to come and gobble the fraudster up. Three wishes later it's all done and dusted, but you're struck by how damned good this track is - and desperately listenable. When will commercial radio take note?

BARDOT : Poison

We can't quite recall whether the clothing label Bardot had anything to do with the naming of Australia's first reality show band, but the girls (Tiffani, Katie, Belinda, Sophie and Sally) had a rather good time of it early this century with a string of chart successes. But 'Poison' is where it all kicked off. And if we're completely honest, we didn't think much of it at the time - but loved 'I Should've Never Let You Go'. In the clip, the girls all got their own little sanctuaries with which to live out their wildest pop music video fantasies and the result is something completely colourful. It was a big big hit, but all good things must come to an end and after two years, it was all over red rover.
