Don't mean to be picky auspOp, but do you realise you are one of the few media sites that always prefaces Guy's name with "former Australian Idol" every time you mention him. Most media writers these days just call him pop or soul singer or both. Even ARIA does that, calling him "Pop-soul singer Guy Sebastian" when they mention him on their sites. He has done so much since Idol, released five Top 10 albums, numerous hit singles, worked with soul legends etc etc etc. That is the reason Idol only takes up a few sentences on his Wikipedia article. Because unlike most Australian Idol contestants whose Wikipedia articles are almost entirely about Idol there is so much more to write about where he is concerned. I wouldn't mind so much, but I don't see you referring to Jess Mauboy as a former Australian Idol runner up every time you mention her name. In fact you never do.
Hey Enough already,
We think the term 'always' is a bit rough.
We haven't prefaced Guy's name, nor have we mentioned 'Idol' in a Guy story since November last year until we revealed the cover image for his 'Twenty Ten' compilation recently.

(we could go on).
It might seem that we preface him with 'Idol' all the time, but we can 100% guarantee that it's not 'always' the case.

Ok. Always may have been an exaggeration aupOp. But I would have thought "ARIA nominee" might have been a more fitting adjective this time around. That's the reason he is performing tomorrow night after all, not because he is an X Factor judge or the winner of Australian Idol seven years ago.
Enough already, by pointing out how media outlets do or don't preface Guy Sebastian, Jess Mauboy, etc with the "former Australian Idol" label, I believe you're perpetuating the stigma associated with being an alumni of Idol. I don't see any problem with anyone highlighting the fact that an artist as successful as Jess and Guy started their careers from a reality tv show. In fact, I think that the level of success they've reached is a testament to the notion that you can achieve more than 15 minutes of fame from a media machine that is notorious for building them up and then tearing them down once the fanfare is over. They should be proud that they've bucked the Idol trend and continue to make a presence in the music scene years after they've left Idol. In the case of Guy and Jess, I think the "former Australian Idol" preface would add to their achievements rather than detract from it.
(...hmm I'm unsure of my ability to articulate clearly at 2am but I hope the jist of what I mean comes through)
