JUDY CHEEKS : Reach
We've been hankering for some old-school Brothers In Rhythm production over the past few weeks - and what with our current penchant for popping a bit of soul back into pop, what better way to combine the two loves than by looking back at Judy Cheeks' 1994 hit 'Reach'. Though Ms Cheeks had some minor chart success in the 1970s in her native US, it wasn't until she combined with the brilliance of Brothers In Rhythm for this track in the mid-'90s that she scored a little top 20 chart love - on the other side of the Atlantic. The clip's relatively simple - get a fab diva to dance among some scantily clad men in a hallway to a dance beat and you've got a pretty good idea of what to expect. But that soundtrack is pure gold, with big diva vocals combining with the BIR magic to pure perfection. (We're still completely taken with their 10 minute epic 'Soundtrack' remix of Kylie's 'Confide In Me' and their reworking of Sting's amazing 'If You Love Somebody (Set Them Free)'.)
