COUNTDOWN TO EUROVISION : Turkey

The countdown is on in earnest to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in the Norwegian capital Oslo on May 25, 27 and 29. And as we did for the very first time last year here on auspOp, we're going to have a look at the bands that will be competing for arguably Europe's biggest musical honour. So without further ado, let's commence our look at the 2010 contestants with Turkey;

TURKEY : MaNga - We Could Be The Same

Five piece Turkish outfit MaNga have already achieved plenty of success throughout Europe, nabbing both the 'Best Turkish Act' gong from MTV in their homeland and the 'Best European Act' at last year's MTV Europe Music Awards. So they go into the competition with plenty of impressive praise to back them up.
The tracks bursts into the senses with a plucky combination of strings, drums and scratching - it's full and glorious and contrasts perfectly with the bleakness of the clip, filmed on a dock. It's fierce, fast-paced and extraordinarily strong - and we reckon there's every chance that next year's Eurovision may be headed to Ankara. Turkey performs the track at Semi Final #2 on May 27.
