We don't know about you, but we've not really been enjoying Australian Idol this year, nor have we been regularly tuning in. We couldn't begin to tell you the names of any of the judges (is Marcia still there?), let alone any of the contestants. So what we wanted to know was... what do YOU think of Australian Idol 2009? Anyone there taking your fancy as a future superstar? Or is it all a bit of a dog's breakfast this year?We've popped a new poll over there in the right hand column so you can have your say and we've given you five possible answers;
1. Best series... EVER.
2. Ho-hum - take it or leave it.
3. Wha? It's back on?
4. Slim pickings this year.
5. Complete schlock.
So... over to you, dear reader. Have your say! We've started you off with our vote.

yay first to vote after auspop!... not sure why i got excited just then.
ps. it was me who made that @evermoreband twitter comment and i see you've followed them. thank you! keep up the good work!
Yep, BORING! Bring back monday nights. Also we need to get to know the contestants, we no nothing about them! Mondays were good for that!
kim cooper is the best.
I'm enjoying it (but then again I always do). I also agree there's a bit of an x-factor missing this season.
Side-note: Having seen them, they sound much better in person than they do on the TV.
Kim FTW! (She's at least marketable, just needs to be less of a bitch)
I personally don't see what's so great about the remaining girls. Or Stan for that matter (he's the one who sang 'Purple Rain', right?)
I was disappointed in this past week's bottom three - I'd have liked to get rid of theatre guy (Nathan?) over Scott.
Hopefully Stan and the girls can be kicked out ASAP because the real standout left in the competition for me is James.
It needs a complete overhaul. Ditch all judges, hosts, producers. New format, allow groups and duo's in, NO theme nights, better guest judges, better voting system, shorten the show to 90 mins, many other things would improve it
All I have to say is that Hayley is on her way to winning!
5 Complete Schlock.
They have completely failed to find good talent this year. None of them are even close to any of the previous winners or top contestants. They're all behaving like it's a singing school, no one is showing that they're a star. They all show a lack of confidence. They all show a lack of general likeability.
And the show's getting its lowest ratings ever.
Stan is the Man :)
vocally he's on point
he's got the personality n all
he should take it out
stan too win
I just wanna make one thing clear before I have a bit of a rant: Up until this year, I was a MASSIVE Aus Idol fan, like, completely OBSESSED.
Not this year.
1st, the decision to ditch Kyle as a judge. Yes, I know he divided people, but no-one can deny that he added something to the show which is now clearly missing: entertainment value.
2nd, the contestants. I mean, seriously, what the fuck? Can the producers seriously say that the top 12 this year is the best they could find out of the thousands that auditioned????
3rd, the decision to get rid of the Monday night show. BIG mistake. I know it rated poorly, I know it was dragged out ridiculously. But come on, the SUNDAY night shows this year are rating about the same or worse than the Monday ones were the last couple of years.
4th, the returning judges. Marcia is the same as always - B O R I N G. And Dicko? During seasons 1 and 2 he was a great judge, critical when he needed to be, but honest, and realistic in his commentary. Now? He has certainly softened with age.
So, is there any way to save the show? IF Idol returns next year, and at this stage, it's a MASSIVE if, then some major changes must happen, or the show is better off thrown on the scrap heap.
1. Complete judging panel refresh. Pick people that aren't afraid to say what they think, are relevant to the music industry today, and add entertainment value to the show.
2. Bring back the monday night show. Half an hour is not gonna kill Ten. There'd still be plenty of time for a group performance, bottom 3 announcement, guest performance and result. Leave the voting lines open until the start of this show, rather than closing them at 3am, which is completely useless.
3. Pick contestants that can ACTUALLY SING! Pick based on vocal ability first, everything else second. They did this in season 2, why not now?
4. Open Voting lines at the END of the show... opening them at the start of the show is just a slap in the face to many of the contestants, and the show completely becomes a popularity contest.
But the ratings have been so consistently bad this year that I'd be VERY surprised if Idol was back next year. Honestly, I'd welcome it back next year IF and only if, said massive changes were made. There is absolutely no point in bringing it back as is. No point at all.
Herein ends my rant. Cheers.
Weird
Its the first time in a few cycles that NZ has even screened this...but i've found the contestants to be a great bunch!
Very diverse...
What has shocked me though is how each week they seem to get rid of the 'good' ones?
