After numerous false starts, the absolutely stunning former Mis-teeq member Miss Alesha Dixon (left) is finally on the verge of releasing her first UK album. Off the back of the success of her appearance on Britain's version of Dancing With The Stars, Alesha will release her debut UK album 'The Alesha Show' on November 17. She's also given fans a taste of what to expect over on her OFFICIAL MYSPACE page by releasing snippets of four songs to be featured on it. The first single from it, 'The Boy Does Nothing' has just had it's video premiere - and here 'tis below for all to see... From the video, it appears that all that hard work on 'Strictly Come Dancing' has paid off - 'cause she's performing some pretty serious 'choree' there. The only thing that's disconcerting to us about the song is that it has a kind of 'Lou Bega/Mambo No.5' sound to it. Whether that will help or hinder the song's success in the UK charts, only time will tell, and there's no word of an Australian release for this at the moment.Friday, October 10, 2008

You know, this could actually WORK as a strong, summer single here in Oz couldn't it? And I don't think I mind the Mambo No. 5 references as such because, were that song actually any good, it would have sounded like THIS.
Whether it would work here as a novelty song, or give her an actual Australian launching pad, I don't really know but I'd be happy either way. It's just so instantly joyous.
Alesha definitely deserves sucess with this single.
She is an admirable person to talk to as well :)
You know...this is a catchy song. Some of the more interesting pop i've heard in a while.
Its in the UK Top Ten now too! Any word on if anyone will pick it up?
Hey Glen,
This release is on Asylum Records, distributed via Warner Music in the UK, but there's no joy on the local Warner schedule for this just yet - we'll keep our eyes peeled and let you know if anything eventuates.
Thanks for the question!

The song and video are up on iTunes now. Warner UK looks like its extended its territory allowance for this one!
